Last year I took 2 weeks off for turkey season.  I would turkey hunt in the morning (required to stop at 1:00pm in MO) and fish the rest of the day.  One day I found a bunch of morell mushrooms after shooting a nice bird.  Nothing like sitting at camp eating wild turkey and morells with a big glass of ice tea, watching the river flow and having fresh bass and crappie for breakfast.

Needless to say, I took off two more weeks for this years season.  Cant wait!!

Well, Finally got my first every turkey, and oh boy was it a rush.
Called him and one of his lucky buddies, (he lived) in and got him.
Here is a pic, 17.3 LBS, 7.5 beard, and 3/4 in spurs, not a monster but will do.

Very nice!  I have to wait until next Monday for our season to start.  I was in the back yard (rifle Range) today and every time I fired a shot for about the first 45 minutes a turkey would gobble.  I cant wait.

Just got back from my second trip to S. TX.   Gobblers henned up, but managed to bring one with a long shot for a friend.
Later we each got a jake.   Mature birds are hard to come by due to lack of rain (drought) any year before the last.

Lots and lots of pigs.

Well I finally got the turkey my buddy has been watching for a week. He called him "the tank".Honestly I am not a die hard turkey hunter, but my friend called and told me "I was going to be sick in the morning".  And to be at his house at 4 am. Long story short. I shot a 24lb.13 oz. 11.5"beard, 1 5/8" spurred freak of nature of a turkey. Had alot of fun. I will get pics up soon. good luck to all the turkey chasers out there. dave
