Not sure if this has been posted before?

Can you put a rimfire accutrigger on the older savage rimfires, can you buy them?

Or is it only an sss thats available?

The rifle is used as stalker for small game closish stuff and some long range shots.

The rimfire AccuTrigger can't be fit to the older rimfires as they made some changes to the bolt to accommodate it.  This is also why the older aftermarket triggers won't work on AccuTrigger models.

Rifle Basix offers two triggers and there is the one from SSS.  These are all for the older (non AccuTrigger) models.

Be very glad if you have a pre-accu_____ on your rimfire rifle. That means you will be able to put a SSS match trigger on it. I have replaced 6 Savage triggers myself and helped some friends do another 4. (7 pre and 3 post) We've found that the SSS trigger is the best trigger so far, though I understand JARD has replacement Savage triggers in the works. The Rifle Basix replacement sear is definitely a step up from the Savage offerings both pre and post accu_____ but the SSS will deliver reliable match performance. It is a total trigger group replacement. Last I heard from SSS Fred has no rimfire accu____ replacement trigger in the works, but that was a while ago.

I have the Rifle Basix sear in my model 93 and it works fine.  Over at Rimfirecentral.com there are all kinds of tricks to tune up the savage rimfire actions without buying anything but some shim stock.

rimfirecentral.com

go to the savage section in the list of forums and it is in the stickies.

I replaced the spring in mine using a same length and diameter spring (made from lighter metal) and then shimmed the rear trigger group screw and the sides of the trigger itself.  That eliminated all play in the trigger in every direction and dropped my pull weight to 12 oz.  No problems with misfires, slam fires, or anything else if you use the correct length/diameter spring and don't use too thick of a shim.  I think mine was in the 0.018" area.  Only thing else I'd consider doing to the trigger is the blade itself.  It is kinda chunky and thick.  I'd prefer it to be thinner and wider.

thanks
