Is this an accutrigger gun? If so:

Sounds to me like you were not pulling the accublade in all the way before you pulled on the trigger. Did all it take was working the bolt again and pulling to trigger again to get it to fire???

Assuming this is any Accutrigger. You likely are not pulling straight back on the trigger. The center blade must be close to fully depressed for the sear to fully release. The funny feeling you are getting is the sear being released but the Accutrigger sear stop is catching it slightly before the firing pin can release. The trigger is functioning as it should. Alot of folks pull somewhat on the side of the trigger and don't realize that they are not depressing the blade adequately. Make sure your finger is wrapped fully around the front of the trigger and you won't have any problems.

I had a similar problem today repeatedly with my MOdel 12 BVSS in .243.  Even when pulling straight back, if I squeezed nice and slow, the accublade would not allow the shot to go off.  It was as if I were pulling the trigger without pulling back the accublade, although it was pulled straight all the way back.  "Clunk" and no firing pin.   Does anyone know if the accublade is adjustable??  The rifle would shoot fine if I pulled the trigger fast, but slowly squeezing it the right way seems to make it go off in safe mode as if the accublade were still engaged.  My model 12 in 22-250 funcitions great.

Any insight will be appreciated

Best regards
Fred

Try adjusting your trigger pull a little bit to see if it goes away. I had the same problem and stiffened the trigger up just a tad and it fixed it.

Thanks P-Dog.  You were right.

Savage cust service offered to set up free shipping to and from Savage to look it over.  That's a really good company.

My 22-250 FV does not do it, only the BVSS 243, but now with an extra 3 oz it's fine.

Thanks again.

How did you train that dog to read that sign anyway??
Good doggie!!
