Could I order a Shilen barrel in 260Rem #6 Shilen contour, ratchet rifled and 20" long for a small shank Savage? If so what is the price?

Shilen offer four basic barrel contours in their Savage Pre-Fit Barrels, Sporter, Heavy Sporter (Magnum), Varmint and Bull Barrels. I would try to match up your barrel requirement to one of these four options to take advantage of the Savage Pre-Fit pricing program.

McGowen has more flexability when someone wants a specific contour. They may be able to match up to your exact requirements.

Jim,
I e-mailed you a month ago about going with a 6.5 Creedmoore barrel but am inclined to go with either 260 Rem. or .260 AI. Decisions, decisions. I see you have both in Shilen and the latter in Mcgowen.
Then there's .308...
I'll call tomorrow.

I just ordered 20 Chrome Moly Match Barrels from Shilen for my inventory. Everything I have coming in will be 26" - Savage Varmint Contour - Polished Blue Finish. I will post the specific calibers and twist rates when they are closer to ready.
The big deal here is that I will be offering these for $235.00 + shipping to your door. I am targeting these to you shooters that prefer the Blued Replacement Barrels but want a serious step up from a Factory Barrel.
More details as this develops.

I'm just back from a NC deer hunt where I used my 114 that I rebarreled with a McGowen in 6.5 Swede a couple years back. Using Sierra 140 Game Kings the rifle drives tacks and the deer fall like they've had their switch turned off! Just a quick (and much delayed) note to thank you for your fine service and put in a plug for McGowen barrels.
