I called Savage parts department today and asked them what parts I needed concerning the internal
center feed magazine to go from 22 - 250 Rem to 243 Win.  The lady on the other end of the phone was very helpful and all I needed was the metal magazine box.  Total cost with shipping $ 17 bucks.

I didn't think that you would need anything but a barrel.  Maybe there is a big enough difference between the two when fed through a centerfeed.

I highly doubt you'll need the new box.....I've fed 22-250rem, 22-250AI and 6mm rem from a 22-250 center feed detach mag.

Give a try first before you order a new mag....could save you enough for a box of bullets!!

On the centerfeeds the .22-250 has it's own unique box, whereas the .243, 7mm-08 and .308 all use the same mag box.  Something about the dimples in the sides being different to ensure proper feeding.

The reason I knew I needed a new box magazine is that I tried some .243 Win cartridges in the
22-250 box and the rim of the cartridge would go down and the bolt would over ride the cartridge.

The part came today (in 3 days) and it is the wrong part.  They sent me another 22-250 center feed internal
magazine.  I called Savage parts and talked to a different person and after a few minutes he told me that he
would send me the correct part and I should send the wrong part back.  I told him that I noticed there were two
different address's on the billing statement.  He said the address in Charlotte, NC was for billing purposes and I should
send the part back to Westfield, MA.  I asked him what the total was and he replied $ 15.00.  I said Hey, that is
2 dollars cheaper.  He started to laugh and stated I can raise the price if you like.  I laughed and then remembered to
ask him if I needed any other parts to convert from 22 - 250 to 243 and he looked the info up and said no.

Difference between 243 Win center feed magazine on the left and the 22 - 250 center feed magazine
on the right.
