Not to long ago I put my 10FP in a Bell & Carlson Medalist stock and noticed that the barrel isn't centered in the barrel channel on the stock.  I checked to make sure it is free floated and it is.  I removed it from the stock and put it back in a few times tightening the action screws differently but keep getting the same result.  I was wondering if it is necessary for the barrel to be centered in the channel for anything other than appearance reasons if it is free floated.  It is shooting good groups now but I didn't know if sanding it would make any difference.  Thanks in advance.

Adam, I recently put a B&C Duramaxx on my 116. The barrel isn't centered on mine either. If the barrel is free floating and it shoots fine  then it should be just a matter of looks. If you want to center your barrel you will most likely need to remove some material from the lug area.

There has been alot of discussion about this topic, and it seems that the B&C stocks all have a problem in the recoil lug area causing this to happen. You need to relieve some of the area until it is centered, or relieve more of it and just bed the recoil lug(probably best bet).

I had a Duramaxx stock that made the barrel go to the right side of the stock.  I took a lot off around
the lug and still was having problems.  I e mailed B&C and they told me to send the stock back and they
sent me a new stock that fit the way it is supposed to fit.

Wrap the barrel with electricians tape about an inch from the front of the stock. Enough tape to firmly center the barrel in the channel. Then bed the action and recoil lug. Voila! Action is bedded and barrel is centered in the channel.
