I have a 221 fireball that was built on a Model 16 action.  I had a 223 setback and re chambered and the barrel is about 20" now.  I have used several powders, including 4227, 4198 and Lil gun with 45-55 gr. pills.  I got a wild hair yesterday decided to do something different.  After reading some on the internet, I loaded some 40 gr Sierra hornet bullets with 2.3 and 3.2 grains of Unique.  2.3 is 980 fps and 3.2 is 1450 fps.  Talk about fun.  I get 1/2" groups or less at 50 yards which is good enough.  My load of 15.5gr 4227 and a 53 gr SMK gets 3000 fps and 1/2" at 100.  POI is basically the same at 50 yards.  I did this for a low report load on squirrels.  I have a couple of 22 long rifles, Win 9422 lever gun and Ruger 10/22 with customer barrel, trigger, stock etc.  I love to roll my own so to speak.  I had a Ruger 22 hornet that did nothing but disappoint.  I shoot lefty or I would consider a model 40 in hornet.  In the mean time, this little package id absolutely fun and cheap to shoot.

I have given that some real consideration.  I cast bullets for a 45-70, 45 auto, and 38 special.  I need to source a mold that Im happy with.  Could be a real hoot.

beartooth bullets and montana bullets...both are very good..I use my Hornet for ghround hogs with copper jacketd and have lead bullts for squirells.. the 100yd sight in for copper works at 50 yds for my cast lead...fun fun fun....
