Jim, I would like to have a LRPV RB/LP single shot in 7mm WSM. Is it possible to change the .473 bolt to feed the WSM cartridge. Also do you ever order any 30 in. Bull barrels in 7mm WSM? If it can be done. Can you provide the parts to change the bolt? And how much would they be. Thanks, Jim

Jwolf,
I can get you all of the parts that you will need. The Savage Bolt Heads from SSS are a first rate highly suggested way to go. I believe SSS sels these for about $60.00 as a complete assembly. You will have to swap out the Firing Pin for a slightly longer one due to the additional thickness of the .532 Bolt Heads.

I can order you a 7mm WSM Barrel in any length up to 30". This may go smoother if we speak on the phone versus several messages.

Jim,
Id like to build either a 243 or 260 on a LRPV repeater action.  How hard would the parts be to come by for this?  I assume the 22-250 model would be better based on magazine size and boltface, but I could be wrong.  Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

GMCGuy,
I have most of the parts in stock at this time. The only parts that you would have to locate are:
1. The stock of your choice
2. A .473 Bolt head
3. A .473 Front Bolt Baffle
4. A 308 Detachable Magazine
I can help with the DBM and Sharp Shooter Supply can get you the bolt parts.

Jim,

Think offering the stocked actions is a great idea.

Looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

Of course, with lefties it would be even a greater idea.

Thanks for the help Jim.  Basically I just want a LRPV repeater in most likely 260 and Im trying to figure out all that I need.  If I can get the HS stock, action and barrel from you and send it all off to sharp shooter supply and get a complete rifle back thats probably what Im going to do.  I just need to know what I need.  Thanks.

Jim,

I'm very interested in a 12 F rifle in the same package, just the action and stock, no barrel. I'm thinking this would work out better with one of your Shilen 6.5 x 284 drop in barrels, instead of taking a chance on buying the whole 12 F from Savage and hoping for a good barrel.

Can you get the 12 F stock and action, if so would it price out comparatively (rough guess?) to the LRPV price?

Also, I'm planning on calling you on Monday about a 22-250 Bull barrel for my BVSS.

Thanks.

Slowpoke Slim,
I needed to locate a wholesaler that had one of the F Class Rifle in stock so i could get my costs and shipping factored into my pricing.

I can offer you a Savage F Class Stocked Action for $780.00 + 16.00 S&H to your local FFL.

Jim,

I will take that offer. I won't be able to call you until Monday to purchase over the phone via CC. Will you be working Monday, or are you off for the holiday somewhere? I'll try to line up my FFL for Monday, but I may need to call you back with that Tues...

Thanks.

Jim,
Wondering if you are offering a stocked long action, prefer stainless in a right hand. Dont know if there is a VLP for this and if so it would be great.
Thanks

Chad,
I actually do have some Savage Model 112 VLP in both 25-06 and 300 Win Mag. If you are interested I will see what I can do pricing wise by offering one of these Savage Model 112 VLP as a Stocked Action.

Jim,

As far as what lefty's want I would give the following feedback:

Tactical actions and hunting actions would be the main focus.

Most lefties are accustomed to shooting right handed rifles so any shooting that doesn't require rapid bolt manipulation, or a minimum of movement doesn't really require us to get a left handed action and since they are hard to find we usually don’t.

Off a bench the advantages are virtually nil (left hand actions should be safer for us) so it really wont matter. However when it comes time to build a stalking type hunting rifle especially in a dangerous game caliber the advantages of not having to reach across the comb or cycle the bolt with our weak hand become more evident.

With all that said I would suggest 10’s 11’s and 16’s and their long action counterparts. By the way savage lists a left handed youth rifle, and lefty youth rifles are scarce as hen’s teeth. I think they would sell.
