I've read somewhere that their BAS-K type rifles may, in the future, be going to a long action if there is enough of a demand for one. I certainly wouldn't mind having one in 300 win mag. They would just have to make it in left hand hahaha

That's no help at all. First Cabela's doesn't list cartridge firearms on line, so there is no way to verify your number. Second, I asked 5spd to provide a MILITARY model number as you indicated that Savage is supplying sniper rifles to to the army (you didn't say which army though), which I call BS on!

Balljoint,
I don't really give a hoot about Cabela's. I was trrying to find out why 5spd stated that Savage was suppling rifles to the army. Sorry.

5spd,
You stated that Savage was supplying sniper rifles to the army. Please back up that statement. What is the MILITARY designation? Which Savage model? What caliber? Which army? Or is it all wishful thinking on your part so you can say you have a sniper rifle?

Balljoint,

If you are referring to the new Savage BAS/T rifle, it has not been sold to any armies yet. I think it is wishful thinking on Savages (and 5spd's) part that there will be military interest in this rifle.

Dirk - the link posted to the Savage sight (I will repost it)  http://savagearms.com/images/pdf/pressReleases/firearms/SavagePNP.pdf
says they have supplied rifles to the Philippine National Police Special Action Force.  It describes the stock as a HS Precision etc. etc.

Doesn't say US Army or anything like that.  They are providing rifles to a military force (the PNP is not a typical "police" unit like we would think).

I don't think anyone wants to say they have a sniper rifle or whatever.  Any rifle has the capability to be used as a sniper rifle and only those actually used by snipers are "sniper rifles".  Anything else is "like" or "similar" to a sniper rifle if you want to get picky about it.
