Just as I thought. Savage rifles are not used by any military. 5spd was just 'blowing smoke'.

Not so fast there - "The Special Action Force is the primary special forces unit of the Philippine National Police. It is formed along the lines of the British (SAS) Special Air Service".  They are like the SAS etc. have the same mission, are armed the same, etc. I would call them a military force.

"As designated by the Philippine National Police, the missions of the Special Action Force are the following:[12][16]

To develop, organise and train organic personnel in the furtherance of the assigned mission.
To conduct Counter-Terrorist operation in urban and rural areas.
To conduct commando type unconventional warfare (CUW) against lawless elements over extended periods of time with minimal direction and control.
To conduct search and rescue operations anywhere in the country during calamities and catastrophes.
To conduct civil disturbance management (CDM) operations and address the requirements of stability and security operations in times of civil disobedience on a national scale.
To operate as a rapid deployment force ready and capable to strike anytime and anywhere in the country in support of other units and other agencies as higher headquarters may direct.
To perform other tasks as the Chief PNP may direct.
"
Here is a link to a summary of a firefight:
http://www.pnp.gov.ph/SAF/Story/story7.pdf

This link has a description and a TofE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Action_Force

I call any gov't force that fields Minimi's, M2's and M60's a military force.

I do not really see the point in having a "sniper" rifle. Once you use it as it was designed for you wont have to worry about using a rifle again. Savage makes really nice factory rifles but with all the aftermarket support you can build a rifle as good and better than any factory made sniper rifle.

Looks like Eric gave ya the info you needed. Cant understand why you think you need model numbers, army ranks, and all that stuff Huh. Does it really even matter who has them???

Why bash all the other members for no good reason?

If you are referring to 5spd 'blowing smoke', all I asked him was what army and did he have a military model number. Curious minds (mine anyway) want to know! If you think that is bashing, so be it.

Dirk, maybe it's time to cut down on the caffeine a bit. Reread 5spd's post...slowly this time. He wasn't revealing new info. He was referring to Balljoint's opening post and MrFurious' link to the Savage press release. He was making a subtle sarcastic remark about how the "army" (term used generically and referring to the Phillipine Special Action Force) was able to get a particular configuration of the Model 10 and yet they weren't available to us yet. Kinda of a "go figure" statement.

You got a model number for that? I can't find it listed.
I am new here but Dirk if you go to the savage web site you will find this particular rifle under the "law enforcement" heading it is a version of the model 10 le.

But it's NOT being supplied to our (or anybody's) army. I was asking for a MILATARY designation number to verify 5spd's claim.

Wow Dirk,
I just read this from start to finish and don't get why there is such a negative tone to all of this.  They're just talking about the rifles that were sold overseas and pointing out the article.  Let's all take a breath.  This is supposed to be a friendly place where people can talk about our favorite hobby.
