I shot some 325gr FTX today. I have tried several different bullet / load combos and I have finally got something that will shot like a Savage is supposed to. I used a Hornady 325gr FTX .458 with MMP orange sabot and 60.0gr Reloder 7. I'm not sure what the FPS on this load would be but I shot my first 0.5" group @ 100yrd's with it. I will be using it to deer hunt with on Oct. 17. I will let you know how it performs on KY whitetails.

I shot the 325gr FTX again this past weekend at the local gun range. I have moved up to 65gr Reloder 7 and still getting 0.5 - 0.75 groups @ 100yrd. I was shooting some water filled 2 ltr bottles and milk jugs all the way out to 300yrds. That load still has enough energy at 300yrds to make a milk jug explode. I realize this is not a factory recommended load but its hard to argue with results like that.  Shocked

65 grains of Reloder 7 with a 300gr rem HP .458dia will yeild right at 2200 fps out of the 50cal savage.  Your results will be some what different because of the added weight.
