New here. Just purchased Savage M10. Factory load of 5744 is 44gr. Is there any safety concerns with starting at 35gr and working up just to see what the rifle likes.

No. In fact, 35 gr. 5744 was considered a "full power load" 7 years ago, as that was all older weaker sabots could take.
