 It's 1245 A.M. We left at 7:15 A.M. yesterday morning. 35 miles by truck, 14 miles by 4-wheeler all one way. 338 WSM with 180gr Accubond at 3000fps. Between the eyes with 2 feet of penetration. 1600 pounds live weight and we brought out roughly 700 pounds on two 4-wheelers. Lisa's 4-wheeler had 200 pounds on it and blew a tire 6 miles from the truck. We were trying to fix it in 30 degree temps and snow with 40mph winds. Pitch black and we could not get enough air in the tire to find the leak. Got to hit the sack, very tired. We are headed back out at first light to retrieve the 4-wheeler and the rest of the Buff. I am about to upgrade my 338/284 barrel to 338 RCM and am curious as to what length that barrel is.
It looks pretty short.

That is 19" with brake/
Should have the 338 Edge shortly and its has a 19" pencil barrel much like Lisa's gun except it is on a larger shank. Plus another 1.5" of brake.

Hmm, maybe I should go ahead with mine as is.
I chopped my rechambered A+B barrel to 19" but was considering just buying a new 338 fed A+B barrel and starting over and maybe going to 22" for a little more fps. They are magnum contour though which is heavy.
At 19 its not bad at all.

Lisa's gun is 6.2 pounds.
The gun just like it in 338 Edge should weight at 7 or a tad over.

Yikes,
Good thing its got a brake on it.
My 338 rifle weighs 7.5#. Thats a SA with a 19" magnum contour barrel, tupperware stock, egw base, burris extreme rings, leupold VX1 2-7x scope.
Thing is going to a 338 RCM will only get me another 100-150 fps over what I am getting now so the only benefit will be I can buy brass ready to go or ammo for the 338 RCM. Oh no neck turning which is a PIA.
I actually have 180 1x shot 338 RCM brass just sitting here.
Right now I am shooting the 210 gr barnes tipped TSX at 2650. Devistating on hogs.
I had considered doing a 338/375 ruger, but then again why not just set up a 375 ruger.
I had one and sold the barrel like a dummy although it was overkill for what I shoot normally.
The 375 270 barnes TSX is the go to bullet for 375.

That would be BLM land adjacent to privately deeded land (ten miles away). We purchase the buffalo and for $2000. split 4 ways Lisa and I had the choice of which animal was taken.
