I would first like to say Hello to everyone. I am new to this forum. I have been looking into getting a Savage 111 FLNS .30-06 for about a month now and have yet to read a bad review about the rifle. I was wondering what everyone's opinion is about this rifle. I would be using it for mostly deer and pig hunting with 150-165 grain and a Nikon Monarch BDC 3-12x42.

For hunting, you can't beat it!  Depending on the length of your shot, It should be a naildriver.  Personally I just use factory 308 loads for hunting.  The last deer I killed was at 200yds using 180gr soft points, heart lung shot, ran 20 feet and dropped!  Insides were pretty messed up.

I imagine 308 Nossler Ballistic Tips would do the job anywhere you hit them!  But anyway, it's my favorite gun to hunt with, second being my 270!

If you want to get brave, try some 308 Corbon 190gr BTHP,  I shot some the other day and I feel sorry for whatever they hit!

Well I guess my next question is does the accutrigger really make that much of a difference? Unfortunatly where I live most firearms are a bit exspensive. I have been searching around and so far the best price I have found in my area is about $640-$540 for the savage with the accutrigger and around $500-$400 for the combo without the accutrigger, depending if they are on sale or not. So there is about a $140 price difference and im wondering if the accutrigger is really worth the price difference?

From what I have understood, the accu-trigger was added to prevent liability issues on their guns with adjustable triggers.  Some of the triggers are adjustable to 3oz's!

The accu-trigger will stop the firearm from firing!  It's like have an added safety!

Most gun manufactures will not go lower than 3lb's on trigger pull, this is how Savage got around this issue!

Up to you!

ok thank you very much for your help. I will most likely go for the one without the accutrigger and just drop a Timney in later on down the road if I dont like the pull.
