What new rifles does Savage have coming out in 2010?
I haven't heard of read of anything. Last year about this time we were finding out the BAS and others. Anyone know of something new or different coming out of Savage in 2010?

The only new rifle that has been revealed so far is the 111 long range hunter in 6.5x284. There is an article about it in the latest issue of shooting times. It's basically an accu-stock rifle with a muzzle break, matte blued metal work, oversized bolt handle, and factory installed cheek piece. According to Kathy at Savage, it will also be made available in .308, .300 WSM, .300 Win mag, and .25-06. She advised that the earliest it would be available is the beginning of December. Hopefully we will hear about more new models soon.  |

Well, Savage just informed me yesterday that there will be a .338 Lapua chambered Model 10 BAS in the line-up for next year. Some changes had to be made to the action to provide enough lug support for the additional pressure, so don't anyone start thinking they'll be able to just screw a barrel on their existing action.

I would like to see some large shank long actions. I know it isn't really necessary and the topic has been beat to death, but I really like the little bit of extra stell over the chamber in a large shank. Especially in magnum calibers. Probably not likely to happen though.

The .338 Lapua Magnum will be a ton of fun. Think BAT, only bigger (Big BAT)! We are currently doing some testing on several of the prototypes. Look for a full article (possibly the cover) on American Rifleman, coming soon. Hopefully the pic below will work, more pics and details as we get loads and other details worked out. Darrell  |

I've always wanted a 338 lapua, but I have to admit that even with the muzzle break I'd be scared of the recoil. I've looked at the 338 in other rifles, but I just don't have the confidence in other brands accuracy like I do the Savage rifles.

That muzzle break is *very* effective, probably 33-35% reduction. I have had no problems shooting 35-40 rounds in a sitting. Additionally, all of the testing I have been doing has been prone, even the chronograph work. Mr. Furious: Thx for the tech support |

Go check out gunblast "dot" com. They have a few pictures of new Savage offerings for next year from the NASGW show. It seems that Savage is coming out with a tactical .22  |

here's a closer view of the .338 Results with 250 and 300 grain SMK's are promising at 1000 yards. With a little development, I'd like to get some 300 grain loads out to 1700 yards or so and see how they run. Darrell  |
