I need some help. I am going to get a new cheap scope for my 204 and 6mmbr. I will probably be shooting mostly 300yrs and less on my range behind my house. I may do some long range shooting but not very much. I am looking at Mueller Millet or Konus scopes. I know Konus has had some full page ads in magazines lately and they look good. I need some advice from someone experienced with them. Thanks

Vortex is about the best scope I have seen. I have had Mueller's and they are good. Never had a Millet or a Konus, but from what I have seen in the gun stores I can't say I am impressed.
Vortex has a transferable lifetime warranty, the quality is top notch, and they have good glass. I have seen side by side comparisons between Vortex, and higher end scopes, and it will blow your mind. I have seen the Vortex beside Leupold's, Bushnell's, and Weavers, and I must say I am impressed. I replaced my Weaver t36 on my long range gun with a Vortex crossfire 8-32, and never looked back. I shot 600 yards at steel gongs with both scopes and found that I could see the bullet splatter with the vortex, something I could not see with the Weaver.

I have 2 Konus scopes on both of my Savage 12FVs. They are 6-24X44s. Coyote hunted with them for 2 years with no troubles. Just came back from the range with the .22-250 I glass bedded and shot a 5 shot group I covered with a dime. I would recommend Konus at about $175. I'd love to be able to spend more for a scope, but I can't and honestly don't see a need to.

Thanks for the info. My son has a swift variable up to 18x and he likes it. I never read of swift being mentioned on this site. It is a mildot and seems to be as clear or clearer than a Leupold I have. RC

How about the new Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40 tactical that Blue Altered has for sale in the classifieds for 300 shipped?
I just bought his other one off him and it is a very nice scope, with a sunshade and permanent target knobs. He is a great guy to deal with to boot.

Take a look at the Center Point scopes that WallyWorld has. I have the 3x9x40 Center Point on my favorite 22 Mag and the 4x16x40 on my Savage model 11 in 223 rem. They come with mounts , Pop open lense covers, as well as a lighted Mil Dot reticle in Red/Green. These scopes seem to hold up under the stresses of a truck gun varmint hunting rig and have never shifted POI at all. These guns continously ride in the truck as one never knows when the occasional coyote might be out roaming the countryside. I just took a big male yote at a stepped off 279 yds and the hit was exactly where it was aimed from a cold barrel and the tool box as a makeshift reat. Nuff said? I find them utterly reliable and for 70 bucks you can't go wrong.

Under $300... I'd take a look at the Nikon Buckmaster line. It's a pretty decent scope. The Bushnell Elite 3200 is pretty good too.

For under $300 you can also get a few different configerations of the Nikon Buckmaster. I have a 4.5-14 X 40 SF and LOVE IT. Think I paid $260. I bought a Konus a few years ago. I threw it in the garbage in under 24 hours. Millett are way too expensive for being Chinese MFG.

I'd save up for a Vortex Viper or 3200 Elite- IMHO The Buckmaster line don't compare to these. I've had 3 and was not impressed with any of them. But really liked the 5-15 & 4-12-3200 Elites I had and 6.5-20 Viper's are sweet!

If you need big X, meuller 8-32x is a decent scope. Super sniper 16 or 20x, but the reticle is really too thick for target. Weaver 36X, but its more
If a hunting scope like in the 2-7x or 3-9x range, the leupold VX1 scopes. I like the LR reticle.
If you need a 3-9x mildot, sightron S1 3-9x mildot.
Maybe a Nikon 6-16x but thats more of a hunting scope.

I want something stronger than a 3-9 I have one of those. Hard to do anything small at 300 yrds. I will be shooting small things crows, eggs, small targets. I may shoot something bigger but mostly target shooting. I will also be trying to shoot small groups. The 18 power my son has is plenty powerful enough. Thanks to all
