I was just going through the Natchez catalog for Nov. and saw they still had some Intensity scopes left, ranging in price from $60-$85. Now these actually came out selling from $200-$250 or more depending on where you looked.
Made by ATK the company that bought out everyone(weaver,Simmons, federal )you get the idea, anyway long story short found the best parts of the differing scopes and made the Intensity, now that they work they discontinued them and brought them out as the Weaver40/44.
They only go up to 12x but for $85 really not a bad scope. I put one on a 223 and it held zero but I replaced with 20x ss and it is now in cabinet and will go on a 25-06 temporarily until I can afford a trijicon 5-20 accupoint.

I agree with 82boy.  I just bought a Vortex 8x32X50, 30 mm tube for a 6mm Norma build in progress.  I'm using a number of the older Crossfire 6.5X20's and really like the clarity.  For the money..........great scopes.

I want something stronger than a 3-9 I have one of those. Hard to do anything small at 300 yrds.
I will be shooting small things crows, eggs, small targets. I may shoot something bigger but mostly target shooting. I will also be trying to shoot small groups. The 18 power my son has is plenty powerful enough.
Thanks to all

less than $300, and 300yrds max....

$159.95 Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 Mil-Dot (tactical)

For under $300 you can also get a few different configerations of the Nikon Buckmaster.  I have a 4.5-14 X 40 SF and LOVE IT.  Think I paid $260.
I bought a Konus a few years ago.  I threw it in the garbage in under 24 hours.
Millett are way too expensive for being Chinese MFG.

I have one of these and some day I'm sure I'll own another.  It's VERY hard to beat the Buckmaster 4.5-14X40 SF, under $300 for a very good scope WITH side focus!!!  If you take the turret covers off it even has target turrets on it.

I'm with the other guy. I have two of the CenterPoint scopes I bought at Wally World(WalMart) for about $70 each. They are 4x16x40mm.They are very clear and pick up light into the late evening or daybreak early. They have backlighting in red and green in 3 brightness levels. I have had no problems with them whatsoever. The eye relief gets sort of shallow at the upper power levels ,but most other scopes do as well. They have a military like dot ranging system that is fairly accurate from what I hear. There are two price levels according to our abilities. I stay around the 40 mm scopes, but they can be had in a 50 mm version for a few bucks more on average  in the same power levels in the $160 range for the 4x16 levels. Please take a look at CENTERPOINT.COM when you have some eextra time....
