hello, I have a savage model 219 in 25/20 in pretty good shape,,no serial num on the gun so i'am not sure how old it is,other than I know my grandfather bought it for my dad before ww11 when he was a teen,,can anyone tell me if it would still be safe to shoot,would it be worth putting a scope on it for my grandson,or should it be left as is,,or is it worth anything??  thanks for any help

25-20's are one of the hardest calibers to find in the model 219.

Don't put a scope on it, it will destroy the value. I know some collectors would pay over $500 for one in the shape your claiming it's in so don't go making it a $100 gun by scoping the poor thing.

As for shooting it, go for it. I've got one in 25-20 as well and I have a hoot poking away with it at the range. It'll fire factory offerings of today with ease.
