Have a Savage 24V-A, .222 / 20 Ga. Wondering about mounting a scope, possibly a short eye relief .22 scope. Anyone ever done that?  What mounting base?

If I recall correctly, weavers mounting base for the 24V is "this gun only"  (i.e. it only fit this gun, no other savages, no other makes).

I found one at our local sporting good store (they had about 3 at the time) and it was still marked with the 1970's price.

I used a couple different scopes, EER and normal (but not a rimfire scope) and they worked fine basically because I used see through rings.  Scope for the rifle, iron sights for the scattergun.  Regulation was OK in general, and actually improved when I shortened the barrels a couple inches.

*the rimfire scopes probably do not have the chutzpah to withstand the 20gauge recoil.  Get a low power fixed or variable shotgun or ML scope.

I'll try to find the weaver mount number

eta:  Weaver #74 (48074), it's a one piece.

Mounted a red dot site on mine. Probably the same base that Jethro mentioned.

THANK YOU! Exactly info I was looking for, shooting slugs, seldom think of using it with shot. Will seek 2.5 power fixed scope.
