I've posted about her a couple times and while she delivered more than sufficient accuracy for any deer hunting use, it seemed she should do better... I bought and mounted a VERY fine Leupold VX1 4x12 and loaded up some nice 130gr Sierra Pro Hunters ( flat base) over 60gr H4831 in neck sized Rem cases ( Lee collet dies are amazing! These cases are on their 30th firing and haven't touched a trimmer yet) lit by Rem 9 1/2 primers OAL 3.265 as this rifle has a short throat. If you try this load REDUCE the powder charge and work up to it. Its a max load in most refrences. This puts the bullet .010 off the rifling.
First range trip gave numerous sub 3/4 inch groups for 3 at 100. Yesterday I took her out and stretched her legs at 2 and 300 yards and was amazed by the 3 rounders i got. At 200 groups ran from 15/16 to an max of 1 1/2 inches. At 300she shot between 2 and 2 7/8 inches. This is a bone stock Model 111 with no bedding work other than freeing up some light tang bearing. Haven't chrono'd this load yet, but zeroed + 2 inches at 100 she landed shots + 1 1/2 at 200 and - 4 5/8 t 300. The same load with Hornady 130's gave 3045 fps.Sierras in this rifle tend to be 50-75fps quicker. Anyway, she does like a fouled bore and the Sierras do a fine job of copper plating things... I'm very happy with my now above average Model 111. I normally use 7x57 class loads in her to reduce recoil, expense and also to preserve case and bore life. Hope these shoot as well as the full throttle stuff!
