After shooting for over 15 years, i finally bought myself a .22 rifle. I have shot my fathers .22 but i have since moved out and getting my hands on them was harder and harder.
So my local gun shop posted up a deal for the Savage MKII FV-SR. A deal i couldnt pass up. Convinced the wife, and now im an owner a Savage .22 rifle.
The rifle has the heavy target barrel with the threaded end. To say the least i dont like the look of the cap that is there and i want something to put on there. What are my options. Something that will not make it look tacky, but give it a cleaner look.
Also the stock, its very cheap plastic. I wanna replace it with a nicer stock, preferable wood and one that is more accuracy shooting in mind.
Thank you
Jason

1. Find a muzzle brake/flash hider in 1/2x28
2. Boyds gun stocks

I would look at DIP for bottom metal and trigger guard, it is much better than the stock. I have tried several flash hiders and the standard A2 flash I like best for appearance vs. price.

All 1/2-28 flash hiders will work, that is what every Milspec AR uses. Here is a picture of mine with a flash hider. I modified the factory stock with fiberglass.

The proper thing to do with it is to screw on a suppressor.
And a Boyds Tacticool or Rhineland Arms stock.

Yes it is except they threaded the barrel to long. I have to use a spacer to install a suppressor. Not impressed with threading job.

So it will take all standard 1/2x28 accessories, but not a 1/2x28 can?

Some cans do not accept long threads that protrude into the can. Anything longer than .400 can be a problem. I had to use a machined washer to get lock up against the shoulder with a SWR Spectre II... that's when the weapon was sold. I bought another that was not threaded and had it done correctly for a suppressor. I hope they have fixed this issue by now.

Made me look.
My FVSR=. 477 threads
My Ruger 22/45 Lites =. 416 threads
I'll have to check the specs for my can( Liberty Kodiak TL). Hopefully the Savage is good to go. I have used it with a Pilot and it fit great and sounded amazing (or didn't sound?).
My form 4 is with the examiner for approval, so barring any typos I'm about 30 days out. :D
Edit: Thread specs on Liberty say standard. 400. We'll see when my stamp comes back if it works.
