Hey guys I have a SAVAGE MAX 1 PREDATOR in .243 and a VORTEX VIPER 6.5-24x50 PST on the way and I need to order base and rings.

With a standard pictanny rail like the EGW will the Vortex Viper MEDIUM rings work?

Also should I get a 20MOA rail?

Any other suggestions as what to use to mount the scope?

I'll be using it for some long range coyote hunting out in the desert and also some long range target shooting.

Thanks!

I have that rifle in 22-250 with a flat egw base and medium Burris rings and a vortex viper 6.5-20x50 mm. I bet I could get away with low rings also. On my 308 it's the same setup but with the 20 moa base and I'm almost at the bottom of the adjustment range with it for a 100 yard zero. I think the 20 moa with the 243 may limit your shorter range zero.

Thanks for the reply. How do you like the rifle?

I love both of them. There both 1/2 moa guns. Bolt lift has gotten hard on the 308 bit it's gonna get a t and t job soon.

I had the exact same setup. I used a DNZ. I later put that scope on my LRP 260 and went with the Midway Vortex 5-15 on the 243.
I bought another DNZ for the 260. They are both 20 moa and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them.
I have no problems at all shooting 1000 yards with 243 with this and keeping a 100 yard zero.

Have and really like the Weaver one piece. Good product at a good price.

I am getting the Predator hunter too in 6.5cr and am looking at a 20moa base and the vortex viper 6.5x20x44 hopefully the clearance will work out with low rings/

I have had that rifle with an EGW 0 MOA mount and Warne low rings for a 50mm objective and it was real low.

Just keep in mind if you want to use butler creek or similar covers you won't be able to.

You'll want low rings. Standard height actually. I have the same rifle but with a Sightron S-III 6-24x50 on a 20 MOA EGW mount. Using a medium height ring I ended up needing to add a higher cheek weld because the scope center is too high.

Thank you much. I will be going with the low rings.

If you go with the Warne Maxima bases you can use Warne rings and you won't have the bar across the action opening to hinder loading or unloading.

The Predator Hunter Max 1 has a DBM. The solid rail doesn't interfere with the bottom drop mag and the rail is well clear of the ejection port. Even if shooting one at a time and loading singular the EGW rail has a large enough cut out to not impede access and exit. I know this because I have and shoot a 6.5 cr Predator Hunter Max 1 with an EGA 20 MOA rail and a Sightron 6-24x50 MOA2 in medium Warne rings. I do a lot of single round shooting as well as use the DBM when desired. It's a very, very nice rifle.

Nice thing about a solid rail. It's a lot easier to assure your scope is looking straight down the barrel.
