I have been using the same bullet I use for long range target... the Hornady A-Max. Yep the A-max. 178 in .308, 140 in .260 rem and the 80g in 22-250. Bang Flop...DRT. Hornady say's the A-max is not for hunting but they are a killer. Check out the thread on SH with all the match bullet kills. Why work up another bullet for a two week deer season when you shoot all year long with one super accurate load?

Nomex suit on - Flame away!

No flame here this is one of the many reasons I shoot a berger. Match grade tolerances on a hunting bullet means my hunting bullet is also my target bullet. I like the Amax as well

Have a buddy who shot a deer with a 50 cal muzzleloader this week--said he hit and completely destroyed the heart. That deer went on to run far enough to take a while to track down.

In my 30-06 I use the Sierra 165 gr SBT Gamekings and out of my 308 I use Sierra' 150 gr SBT Gameskings. With the Gamekings they don't tear up the meat like the hollowpoints do and still kill them just as quick.
