View Full Version : Not really happy with the new bead blasted finish on the new Savages

I'm referring to the new "bead blasted" finish that's on a model 11 I bought awhile ago. I like shiny stainless or a nice deep blued finish. What are my options for refinishing it? Pic of the rifle:

They're not bead blasted, it's actually shot peened. If you want it shiny, polish it up and re-blue it.

They're not bead blasted, it's actually shot peened. If you want it shiny, polish it up and re-blue it. +1, that's your only option. If you have a decent local "gunsmith" that can do hot bluing, you can have the look you want in a short time.

Re barreling is always the best option, what caliber is it anyway, the reason for the shot peening is it's very economical and hides a lot of blemishes.

It's a 22-250 with a heavy 22" barrel
