Ok, I really want to buy this scope, but I am being swayed away (on another forum) Now I really want the PA but, others are saying to buy a $600 scope instead of buying the PA. Now Im stuck in a rock and a hard place.....:Cry::frusty:

It's all in what you like. People swear by the swfa scopes and I've never liked those scopes. I had the fixed 16x swfa, a konus pro m30, and an osprey international that I did a side by side on. The osprey and konus both out shined the swfa in clarity and brightness, they all tracked surprisingly well for price point, but the konus m30 was just clearer at long range than the other 2. Toughness would be a toss up between the swfa and the osprey. It's just hard to say which is best to you until you get them side by side. But it's alot easier to replace a $230 scope than it is a $600 scope if ya don't like it

Famous last words.

There are some good deals on scopes but ultimately, when you challenge a cheap scope you get disappointed. The odds are against you. Buy once cry once.

I think weaver tactical still makes the 3-10×40 mil/mil for $300

I ordered a couple more PA's yesterday...
I have a Weaver Tactical 3-15X (#800363) that is an $800 scope that has the glass of $1,000+ scopes. Best Quality (glass/coatings) scope I own.
As I said before, I shoot to 1,760 yards. The PA doesn't make it harder to group at that distance, but the $500-some less spent on the PA sure helps with being able to shoot a hell of a lot more rounds.

Warrentee:
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Here are a couple ways to think about it.
#1 Some people actually over-pay taxes on purpose. Giving the government an interest-free loan all year, so they can "get a bonus"at the end of the year.
#2 Some people don't mind paying for 2.5 scopes up front, when only getting to use one. Then if it breaks they can return it for a "free replacement".

This summer alone I have a bit over a 1,000 rounds of Creedmoor under the PA, how long will it take you to shoot that much?
So how you see those above examples tell you whether or not a warranty should be important to you. There are no "right" choices, just choices.

Cheers

Yep! Deep down I want the PA scope. I dont want to make a bad choice. All the people who say it sucks also own $2000 scopes.

Why cant this be simple. I have seen alot of good reviews on it and yet to see a bad one.

PA is not going to be perfect but for the average hunter it will be fine. You would ahve to look at something like a Swavarski 1-6x next to a PA 1-6X to see the difference, but its a pretty big difference. I looked at a Swavarski 1-6X in a shop about 5 years ago, and the first word was WOW. I had to immediately leave before the CC came out of my wallet.

Best for the $ under $600 will be the Vortex PST 2.5-10X.

Depends but for me for hogs it needs to be illuminated with a large front objective and good optics.

Next I am trying out a Mueller 4-16x mildot illuminated on a 8mm mauser, but I need a forgiving eyebox.

I prefer a mildot with just an illuminated center dot but not a lot of them made. If a company made a decently priced good glass 1.5-8x FFP mildot center dot illuminated that would be on every hunting rifle I own. Even a 2-8x would do.

If you are going swamping for hogs then I would say the PA 1-6X. I have one and its nice.
I also have the PA 1-4x and a PA 4-16x and they are both nice for the price but I havnt used the PA 4-16x a lot.

If you can fork out $600 then a vortex PST 2.5-10X.

Well I"ll change it up for you ,I own a nightforce atacr (over 2000.00) ,several shepards , Nikon's & 2 PA 4x14x44 ffp sopes ,and IMO don't think they suck.
too many scope snobs out there that probably never ever tried or handled the PA

Just buy the Primary Arms 4-14-44 FFP. If you don't like it after 60 days I'll buy it for the $230 you spend on it. How can you go wrong?
