I am going to workup a load for my new 223 and need primer advice. Savage Target Action with a 26" krieger with a 1 in 12 twist, chamber, barrel work and action work by SSS. I will be using a 50gr. V-max with N-133 Vihtavouri to start with as a powder choice. Any thoughts on a primer choice?

.223.....Remington brass.....Ball powder?
+1 on the Wolf primers but I'd go with the SRMs. I use them almost exclusively now in the .223.
CCIs would be Okay also.

Ten try some remington 7 1/2 I have used them and have pretty good luck. Nice clean complete burn using 24gr. imr4895.
Note: If you use the wolfs, make dadgum sure you seat them fully. A lot of people(myself included) have experienced ftf's and hangfires with wolfs if great care isn't taken when seating.

I only have experience with winchester and cci, of those 2 I prefer the cci, accuracy was the same with both of them, but the cci primers seem to handle the pressure of hotter loads better. I run H-335 and varget powders.
