IMHO....and from the primer testing i did...CCIs are the most consistent primers made and produce the lowest ESs...remingtons and winchester are the worst...in one of my tests i had 3 FTFs with rems and 2 with winchesters....ive never had a FTF with any other primer...wolfs are decent but vary lot to lot...feds are to hot unless running very slow powders in large case and even then the ESs are pretty high.
The fed 210m is the most widely used and sold primer but when i was testing you could of hit the lotto easier than finding them...i bought 3000 of them recently and ill test them against the CCI BR-2s when my short action remodel is done...i have shot a few of them over the chrony and so far im not really impressed with them....but like i said ive only shot a few.

Off topic....my bartlien barrel showed up today and i sent my dumby rounds in to dave manson yesterday so i should have my reamer in 2 or 3 weeks and the evolution chassis should be a week or 2 behind the reamer.

I"m running BR2s in my Creedmoor, and Magnum 250s in my 338 Edge. Recently thought about going back to a regular primer instead of the magnums in the Edge though. Not really sure. Haven't shot it enough to do any real load dev yet.

well heres some numbers for you from a 300wm with a STOUT load of RL-22 in nosler brass and a 208g hornady...all brass prep'd,charges, seating depth, neck tension, trim length were the same and fired in a round robin type order...all numbers were 5 shot groups so 60 rounds fired...i also shot H4831 and H1000 with similar results....i also shot a few standard LR primers in this 300 and with H4831SC a standard fed210 was producing single digit ESs pretty consistently and is what makes me think the fed primers are the hottest primers...in my opinion a mild primer(CCIs)produce the lowest ESs and best accuracy.

fed 215...2943-2983...2933-2985...2942-2980

WLRM...2870-2934...2889-2944...2879-2927

rem9.5m..2885-2930...2832-2890...2875-2926

cci250...2919-2935...2930-2941...2918-2939

and on a side note...most ppl dont realize how important primer seating is...seated to deep/hard and you break the pill(for sake of a better word)apart...not deep enough and the flame blows off to the sides in the pocket before it blows through the flash hole...i have no HARD data on this other than playing with seating depth seating pressures with a K&M seating tool with the gauge on it.

heres a test i did(and had forgotten about until i was looking back through my 260 data)that some of you guys might find interesting.

this was not long after i started fully prepping my brass, neck turing, uniforming primer pockets and de-burring/uniforming flash holes...id just bought a 100pcs of 260 lapua brass and started prepping them when i started thinking this is a lot of extra work...is it worth it?? so i prepped 10pcs and left 10pcs as is outta the box and went out and fire formed the 20 pcs. when got home i FL sized with a redding body die just bumping the shoulders back .001-.002...trimmed to 2.018...neck sized with a lee collet die so while the OD is different the ID is the same which equals about .003 neck tension...cleaned the primer pockets brushed the necks chamffered inside and out primed..loaded and headed back out.

all groups with fired round robin starting with the outta the box...
load was 41g RL-17...CCI 200 primer..139g lapua seated .020 off the lands..this was a very accurate load in this riffle
28" shilen select match barrel
outta the box OD loaded neck .294 to .295
turned neck .293.5
outta the box...............prepped
group 1.......................group 2
2893-2917...................2909-2922
group 3.......................group 4
2896-2930...................2923-2935

so is all the extra work worth it? i guess it depends on what your doing and how serious you are.

I've been using Hornady Brass in my 243win. I tumbler it for an hour, deprime and neck size only with a Lee collet die, tumble overnight (gets the primer pockets), then trim with a rcbs trim pro2 with the 3 in 1 cutter bit to 2.035, wipe down, prime with CCI 200's, 41.5hrs of H4350, with a Berger hybrid seated to mag length.

I'm should have the lock load tool today to measure my distance to the lands, but this weekend will be the last match for this barrel. Shoots very well still, but it's about ready for a set back. New barrel should be here today!

i dont care for horn brass it varies to much for me but for the shooting you do where loosing brass is an issue its a better option than loosing dollar each brass...if i was shooting tac matches though id shoot rem brass...way more case capacity and is more consistent IMHO...also stainless tumbling is the way to go...90mins and your brass looks brand new inside and out ;)

Ya one investment at a time. I'm also not a fan of water marks or putting my brass in the oven lol.

Oh an Hornady brass is always available where it seems rem and win brass only do seasonal runs. I bought a bunch of mixed win and rem once fired on the cheap and use it to fill in gaps where the hornady is lost or determined no good.

Scheels here in Reno had a bunch of 243 win brass for $26 buck a bag(50) I think I can pick you some up and send it to you?

Also I made a box with drilled to fit peg board and a hole in one side I just put a hair dryer in and 5mins dry...no water marks

well after this morning maybe i should change my name to ShortRange!!
i havent shot past 650 or so in a long time(or it seems like it anyway)so i figured id shoot long this morning...i forgot how just how hard it is to hold steady at longer ranges.
i set up and lazed my targets...1236yds from the muzzle...wind was gusting about 8-15MHP...i shot 25 rounds and had a whopping 4 hits LOL...this is a great load but the shooter sucked today...sorry for the long vids i dont know how to edit them down...

first 10 rounds....

https://youtu.be/dbouuJmrowM

next 5 rounds...

https://youtu.be/oTXBmuvCKmQ

next 5 rounds...

https://youtu.be/h4YtR7fDd6o

last 5 rounds...shot 1 at small target then decided i needed something bigger but it didnt help lol...

https://youtu.be/vbC7Hf13fSI

i had 1 hit outta 10 on the left target...2 hits on the center one and one(you can see)one the right target...the right target is 8" wide by 12" tall...im going to go back out tomorrow and shoot this again.

Reevaluate your shooting position and do some dry firing, focus on the fundamentals. Other than data the shooting should remain the same.

Your right but at the same time its way harder hold your cross still on a target at 1200yds than it is at 650yds....i probable would of shot better off my rear rabbit ear bag but i need to get away from the rear bag as ive been using it to much lately...ill shoot a few off the bag tomorrow to varify then its back to no artificial rear support....i use to shoot that spot all the time in worst conditions and never missed that many shots...its a parish able skill.

For sure. A sling is a good option too.
