Not all of us are using Savages Rob. Especially with cartridges like 338s. As for the rings, i personaly think they are pretty decent rings made by a pretty good company.
And at over $200 a set they certainly arent what you might consider junk. Bottom line is they are an easy way to fix a fairly common problem when people use tapered bases.
Im somewhat surprised that it took smart ass like me to mention them. As for zero stops, by and large they all leave wiggle room. But its nice to know how much thats helped you
as you travel from state to state competing.

Yeah it is a little more challenging but can be done with practice. I put up known sized pieces of cardboard at known distances and then mil them. Breaking down the reticle as small as possible. Then use the mil range formula but knowing the range already you can see how close your reticle mil read is. If it's off you look back through the reticle and see what it should have been. Say it should have been .3 instead of .4 then look through and find where you held and remember that's .3 and then look where .4 is. With the .2 mil dots and .5 mil marks you can break the reticle down pretty good with practice. You do get a little spoiled with the Vortex 2C reticle with the .1 mil marks on the outer edges but you can get the Weaver reticle to work. Also being able to break down the reticle helps with using it for holds as well as your holds will be more accurate.

Below are the simple cardboard I put up. You can do it at 100 yards only if need be but I use it out to 300. My team mate Tony used this idea as a basis for his RETS system at Impact Data Books.
