H110/Win 296 and CCI magnum primers.

This. Do your research on H110. You don't wanna start "light" with this powder. Full house or no house.

I've heard the same thing with 296. It sure is a fun gun to shoot. I can see why so many people are intimidated by it. You guys are right, this is not a gun to hand to a beginner shooter lol. It will take several hundred rounds for me to master. I am a slow learner lol.

The first handgun I ever shot was a Super Blackhawk .44 at the age of 8, handed to me by my father. We both shake our heads when we remember the day. It wasn't until a month ago I finally found a stainless 5" barrel donor with 100 rds down the pipe. I promptly disassembled it, polished and jeweled up the necessary bits and am having the receiver and barrel bead blasted, front sight cerakoted bright yellow, with pearl grips on the way. My first .44, custom all the way. I'm dying to get it back. It will be my open/daily carry.

I gotta say, revolvers are quite addicting. I'm already thinking I could use a good 4" Smith in 357 magnum. If only I had all my student loans paid off, then I wouldn't have to ration myself on guns lol.

Don't reload for the 44Mag anymore, but I always used 2400. If you can find it it works very well.

+1 on the 2400
I use it for all 3 of my heavy 44 mags including a 454 Casul
Been using the 2400 for 20 plus years.
