well is it stuck?

Chuckle. No. Been busy installing the temporary scope and getting some 223 rem ready for the tumbler.

Here are the results: At 11hrs elapsed time I tightened up the action bedding studs and then removed the studs. The action popped out without any use of the rubber mallet. This is the 1st time I have used the studs.

There are a couple voids at the top of the sides of the action, but will have no effect on aesthetics nor mechanical fit. Reasonable results.

Installed the scope base and the timney trigger and set the pull weight.

And here she is all suited up and ready to dance. Have some factory lapua 105gr ammo that I will use to break-in the barrel, hopefully next week weather permitting.

that came out very nice and looks great assembled...looking forward to range results!

ive always set my savage triggers to 10oz and when i got my 591 i set the jewel to 10ozs and it was way to light...set it to 1lb and still to light...i settled on 1.5lbs and it feels like a 10oz savage trigger...at least to my finger LOL!!

Looks great! Bedding job turned out nice! Which Burris is that....or did I miss it in the earlier posts?
I just got a timney for my remage in the mail yesterday. I got the 1.5-4lb. With that pull weight....did you get the Calvin elite? The one I just bedded (or umm rebedded but we wont tell everyone) is a 6br....we maybe we can compare some loads here and there.

Thanks guys.

Scooter, that's the Burris XTRII 8x40 that I moved from my Flat Back 260 rem until this winter. The trigger is a Calvin Elite 8oz to 1.5lbs. I am looking to load some 90gr&105gr Lapuas, 105gr or 108gr Bergers and I have some 95gr SMKs that I will also try. Powders on hand Varget, BL-C(2), H335, H4895 and I will probably also try some VV.

Speaking of flat back, I moved the bolt back and forth when I was removing the scope. That action is so old that it is really smooth. It also had a T&T by Fred so it definitely is a keeper. It was a Pawn Shop find that had been abused and used by its previous owner.

Gotcha on the Burris.
Ive got the Veracity 5-20 on my 6mmx55 remage. I like it so far...
I looked pretty hard at that trigger ended up with the 1.5-4 instead....
Ive been playing with 105gr amax and varget some. Actually went 1k yards with that combo a few weeks ago. Im gonna put it paper next week hopefully and see how it looks. Keep us posted on your results with it!.
I got mine all cleaned up and put back together Saturday evening....

Was able to get to the range this morning and send some factory 105gr Lapua rounds to sight the rifle in and to do a ladder with 90gr Lapuas and H4895.

Thanks guys for the comments. I really like the feel of this one. The stock moves back on the front rest really smooth and the trigger pull is just right. Was surprised with the group potentials with the H4895, I am expecting Varget to out perform all other powder combinations that I have loaded up for testing. Still have to order some 105gr Lapuas for reloading, very surprised with the factory group after I got comfortable with the rifle

Was able to finish up load development this week with the 90gr Lapua using H4895, H335, BL-C(2), and Varget. Also tried 26gr of H4895 at different seating depths. It looks like jamming the lands is the best with H4895, also had a less than .200" 4 round group at .015" from the lands(last round was a pulled shot). So will probably load up 10 rounds each and see where that leaves me.

The other powder combinations were nothing to write about, unfortunately; I like to have more than one powder combination for each bullet.

Nice!!

The first and last groups look good and this is where case prep starts coming into play.

Load development continues with different weight and brand of bullets. Started on 108gr Bergers today, have some potentials to tweak. Next up will be 105gr Lapuas.

Looking good!
I'm not overly pleased with mine just yet as far as tight groups go. Makes me wonder how I can make one of the most accurate cartridges in existence not shoot well lol

Thanks Scooter.
Well I had so so luck with 107gr SMKs. VVN135 was the only combination that I could get below .300". With the 6BR I am looking for a high .100" to a low .200" on the ladder test and then do tweaking for that combo. Of course there is an exception to the rule. If I think I had a flyer and if I think the load will perform better with tweaking then I will load up some more of that combination.

Don't get disappointed, it just takes trying different combos to find the right node. I have just been lucky so far picking the right combos. In the past I have gone a long time before finding the right combo for other cartridges. It looks like 90gr&105gr Lapuas and 108gr Bergers will end up being my go to bullets

Bob

Thanks for the info rb! I think I had a breakthrough yesterday with mine. It's in the "at the range" section. I'm gonna read over your data and maybe try some of your combos.
Thanks again!
