Was curious what the original factory length was for a model 116 flat back in 300 win mag. Got one stainless steel with a fluted barrel and muzzle brake. They advertised it as having a 22" barrel, but after measuring it that is with the brake included.

The 30-06 was 22" barrel including the brake.
I'm pretty sure I remember the 300 win mag being 24" including the brake.

Thanks, rather surprised they would make a 300win that short.

Yep didn't realize the barrel was short, have another savage 300win with the accutrigger with the light sporter barrel I was planning to rechamber so wanted another 300win to replace it. Looks like I might be rechambering this one instead.

Depending on the bullet size I doubt you'd loose much fps over a 24in barrel

My other one has a muzzle brake as well, been shooting 208gr amax and have some 212 gr eld-x to load up. Think I was getting around 2950 with reloader 22 but would have to look at my notes.
