Local Cabelas has a Savage 10fp in .308 with matte finish and a Choate stock with a bipod rail.
$699 plus tax.
Opinions of the Choate stock on this rifle. It was heavy as hell but really stable.
Any opinions would be appreciated.

I bought one for my Model 12 with a 1" barrel. It is heavy, but I can't see myself walking around with this thing anyway. My action fit the stock perfectly. There was plenty of room in the barrel channel for the 1" barrel. I like the shape of the Choate better than the B&C stock. I bought the DBM style, then bought the ACME DBM kit from SSS. I think it's a heck of a stock for the price. I got the stock from Combatstocks.Com. I think their price has gone up since I bought mine.

Had to bed mine cause it was not grouping very well. Shot once with 168 noslers since and had a group in the threes and one in the fours. Have not had a chance to; shoot since.

Their not bad but, as stated, a bit heavy. You may want to look at the B&C Duramaxx, a lighter stock that's better suited to tactical/varmint use IMO.
