Just as the title indicates, I have a 22/250 w/ a Pac Nor 1-8" twist finished @ 25". I am wondering if any one is experimenting w/ this type of combination? I have 2 powders w/ which to work with, RL-17 and H-100V. I currently have a load of 37.0 grs. of RL-17 and H-100V looks promising as well w/ 37.0 grs. I'm still in the development stage so I'm not going to post velocity numbers yet, but the 75 gr. AMax turns a 250 into an animal that I doubt will ever eat 55 grainers again!! Initial thought was if I could get the 75's around 3150-3250fps. (target volocity) then I would have all the performance of 55's w/ the added benefit of LR stuff. Let me know!

I've wanted to try a 22-250 with enough twist for the 75 grain pills. Just never have. I bet it will work great at extended ranges.

i have the factory 26" st. fl. barrel.1 in 9 twist. the 75gr.hornady h.p.b.t. works great with 32.0 gr. varget and the hornady a-max 75gr works great with 33.0gr varget. speed ?? still playing with load. both shoot .625" the a-max shoot about 1" to the righti was going to slow it down .2gr. good luck , MARK

I didn't know savage had a factory 1-9, 22-250 barrel. Or did you set back a .223 barrel and rechamber it in 22-250?

...No need to set it back..Just run the 250 reamer in it...

True. I still wonder if that's what he did. I never though of that, maybie if I get tired of .223 I'll change it over to 22-250. lol

There was a good article in Shooting Times about 2-3 years ago about a LRPV with a 1:9 22-250 shooting 75 gr bullets. Don't remember the issue number but it had a 223 on the front cover and that about making 223 bullets from 22 RF cases. Anyway, it mentioned IMR4007SSC as one of its top powders. I use IMR4007SSC, IMR4831, and IMR 4350 in my 22-250AI with 75-80s. Luck in your choice, Tim
