I really like the feel you get from a hand primer, plus I can do it while watching TV ;D

Lee, without a doubt. Two of them on my bench. One for large and one for small. I gave Greg my RCBS. Hated that darn thing!
And I use it a lot! Thanks again ED! :)

And good riddance! LOL....
LOL "ME" or "IT" :o

The primer tool of course. Your welcome to come visit again any time.

For long range rifle reloading I've used the Lee hand primer tool for more years than I'd like to admit(getting old), but I recently switched to the K&M. The K&M is a little slower, but I'd never go back to the Lee. There is no comparison between the two when it comes to feel and quality. I was going to try the Sinclair primer tool, but figure I'd try the K&M first since it was half the price. I've been very pleased with that decision. I actually threw away my 2 trusty Lee hand primers after receiving the K&M.

I don't want to knock the Lee though. They served me well for many years and it was good enough to allow me to hit prairie dogs out past 750 yards.

I have the Lee Handheld Autoprime as mentioned above and have been very happy with it, but I barely use it now. I have been using the press mounted that fits the Lee turret press and the Lee Breech Lock Press (and maybe others?). This seems to wrok pretty well. the Large Primer unit works great, the small primer unit used to let primers slide through the slot on the feed tube (i guess thats what you would call it) so I just put a rubber band on it and it has been fine ever since. I like it because It keeps the round on the press so with the turret press I can insert the prepped brass and it doesn't come out until its a completed round. It looks cheap as heck, but so far its held up well and suits my needs.

If your needs require a handheld unit I have been very happy with my Lee Auto Prime.

ive got a sinclair unit and the feel is amazing. ive also used the lee primers and they work too. its like comparing a cadillac to a corvette. both are good ones faster the other rides better, both will get you to the same point

has anybody tried the Hornady hand primer? I picked one up a couple weeks ago, and just used it today on some reloads. The feel is good and smooth, and the primers seemed to seat very uniformly. However, I'm thinking the seating stem is a little too long, as the primers were a little deeper than with the Lee Auto Prime, or the RCBS. It's nothin' my buddy's small lathe can't remedy though. ;) As soon as the wind stops blowing 40+ MPH, I'll see if the loads are affected any.

I have a RCBS and a Lee. Much prefer the Lee. I think it the only Lee tool I have left on an otherwise "Lee Free" reloading bench.

+1 - I have the Lee hand held and the one that mounts on the press (Ram Prime, I think) that I use to batch prime if I'm doing brass to load later. Once I figured out what those goofy shaped metal things with the springs were for, I use the Safety Prime almost exclusively with a turret press, you can go from a fired case to a loaded round without having to remove the case from the press. I've loaded 1000's of rounds with this setup and the mechanisms are still running just like they're supposed to. The only downside is that you need to remember to put in the primer (note powder on press) :)

Thanks NefariousD! I had forgot all about posting up some pics. Glad you got to it. The Safety prime is nice on the turret press since it goes in empty and comes out done. Sped up my reloading a ton.

The new version of the Lee AutoPrime is a turd. They fixed the one thing that was wrong with the old one (weak lever) but totally eff-ed up the rest of the design in the name of "improvement." Really crappy part is that the new handle isn't compatible with the old model. I'll have to mod it to get it to work.

I used the RCBS hand primers for years. One set up for small, one for large. Got one of the new RCBS universals that you don't need to switch shellholders on. Really slick. Shorter squeeze. Only problem is that the nice square primer tray doesn't fit as tight as the old models.

Almost forgot. Also have an RCBS die that mounts to the press. Uses a shellholder and you load the brass up on top of the press. Has a spring-loaded plunger for either large or small and seats primers one at a time. That's what I started with 40 yrs ago. Used it the other day for old time's sake and man is it slow! Nice positive feel though.

The RCBS Universal rocks. It is comfortable to hold and makes quick work priming any case. Honestly, it's all I've ever used, and I doubt I'll switch to anything else as it works so well.

Lee Auto Prime 2 Press Mounted Priming Tool

Anybody have pictures of the above? Looks nice, instructions/details are short!

It mounts on your press!

If it's anything like the auto feed for the 12 Ga Loadall II, it it will be a disappointment...........I learned that the hard way.
