Have had a Remington XP 100 in .221 Fireball for years. Started having "reach/shoulder" issues when sighting in thru the scope. Felt like someone hit me with a baseball bat!! Finally converted it into a rifle.
Not too long after, the shoulder issue went away so I needed another SP.
Wanted to try shooting a lefty action right-handed. (I'am right-handed)
Picked up a Savage Model 12 lefty repeater action. Found an ambi stock so off to the range. LOVED IT!!
Ordered up a right hand thumbhole BR style stock. Plugged the right bolt handle cut and recut it on the left side.
Added a single shot floor plate/adaptor and mounted the action on a Whidden V Block. Tactical (longer) bolt handle to ease the bolt lift.
Right hand stays in the thumbhole for stock control (bench shooting) while your free left hand feeds ammo and works the bolt.
Only issue? Have a hard time shooting my right hand rigs. Taking your right hand off the stock to work the bolt just isn't natural anymore.
That same "lefty action" was used to build another SP. Worked ok but didn't get the desired effect I was after. Sold the SP rear grip stock.
May pick up another XP in the future for my Wildcat round.. Perfect mounted in a lefty stock.
