I picked up an M11 used several years ago. It shot well when I bought it. A friend made some ammo for me and it is a hoot to shoot. I shot it today at 100 yards. I used an NRA OFFICIAL 25 FT. QUALIFICATION TARGET. The bullseyes are the size of a dime. The center target was fired first and it was a devil of a time seeing the shot holes, even with a spotting scope. The lower right target was shot with a hot barrel. I am happy with it!

We did try those. This loading works best for me in this rifle.

Looks like it is a shooter.
Had an 11 and the 55gr Australian Outback was outstanding in it.

Guess you don't then.
This is 200 yds with a 69gr.

ADI ( Used to be Australian Outback ) 69 grain SMK has been super in my Model 12 LRPV out to 500 yards. Even with a 1:7 twist, it`s been more consistently accurate than 70+ grain factory loads so far.

Again so the issue is moot and has no relevance. Happily for me our range goes out to 300yds with plans to expand it to 500/600yds. My Model 11 does not like bullets lighter than 55gr. so there is a difference between yours and mine. Shoot'um up and have fun! :yield:

Yes, I will shoot the 52 grainers and have fun. Our range keeps making noises about building a 300 yard range, but that seems to be all they are doing.

I would like to shoot longer ranges just to see if I still can. We used irons in the Corps out to 500 yards, not sure if I can see that far anymore........He11 to get old!

One thing for certain. I'm not giving up my Savage! Matter of fact I still want 1 more.

I paid $350 for mine with the Nikon 3X9 scope on it. Had a Harris Bipod laying around looking for employment and a leather sniper cheek piece for an M1 Garand doing the same thing. Both are now fully employed and I am liking it. May go to a Grandchild when I take a dirt nap (hopefully not real soon).

The model 11 I have came as a barreled receiver 243 with the barrel in unknown condition. I just wanted the action and trigger. Paid $150.00 shipped to my FFL. It now has a Model 12 26" 223 Varmint barrel, Boyd's At-One Thumbhole stock, Athlon 10-40X56 SFP scope and Harrid bipod.

I have a 36X Leupold that I thought about putting on it. But the restricted field of view bothers me.

Can understand not doing it for everyday use. Mine is strictly a Bench range rifle. Shooting .5MOA targets at 100,200 and 300yds. On my Model 10 I have a 8-34 FFP scope and at full magnification the reticle covers and hides the bull. With the 10-40 at 300yards I can see 22cal bullet holes in the paper. It's a ton of fun and with the 223 relatively inexpensive.

This is my bench rested toy. A Winchester 52D with a 25X Lyman SuperTargetSpot scope. Is a hoot to shoot with a 1 ounce trigger. And the recoil is acceptable. That is a five shot target.
