Just bought a new Savage BTV from Buds. Inspected it before the LGS locked it up for the California 10 day 'cooling' off jail. Its hard to wait until I can clean and shoot it.
However while waiting, I was wondering if anyone knew if Savage loctited their pre-installed scope bases?

No... they do not! Most of the time the bases are not even hand tight from the factory, so it is ALWAYS a good idea to check and tighten accordingly. No loctite is needed.

I agree - NOT secured at all ! ! Both my $100 Sav-64 FV-SR and my $300 B22-FV needed to be tightened. If you clean the screw holes well b4 tightening you don't need to loctite, in case you need to remove them w/o heating. I didn't loc them and both have stayed on for 10 years or more.

Thanks all....I also queried Savage and got the answer 'no loctite'. Thanks again for reminding me to check torque.
