In a .243 Win:

1. Will a 1:8 twist stabilize 75 to 90 gr bullets at Reloading Manual velocities?

2. Will that 1:8 twist shoot those bullets with MOA accuracy? Assuming rifle / scope / shooter / load all do their part.

TIA

This is where I go to for such answers until I can shoot them out of my gun.

Thank you Charlie.

I use JBM quite a bit. I take my load from the Reloading Manual and then plug in all the basic inputs to get drops at all the usual ranges. Will look at the site to see how to calculate bullet weight & twist.

Will look at the site to see how to calculate bullet weight & twist.

It's the bullets length needed to calculate twist, and not it's weight. You can find the lengths on JBM's
"Length" page.

" Not to out do Charlie or Fuj' just to make it easier for you as I had the book marks saved."

Note: For accuracy of calculation use Brian (Litz) data data on the JBM length if available.

8 twist should handle 75-90s fine. When I ordered my barrel I went with a 7.5 twist because I was going to use 105s at 4600 feet of elevation.

FWIW, my 6BR is an 8 twist and shoots 105 Berger VLD's just fine. 2820fps. It did not like 108ELD match bullets. 4500ft elevation at our range.

I shoot the 75 Vmax and 87 Vmax in my .243 w/ a 8.5 twist with fantastic results.
