110 Trigger Locks Up

The Savage 110 is bedded in a Boyd's stock. I have changed barrels on it quite a few times and never had this problem. When the rear action bolt is tightened, the silver part of the trigger locks up. If I loosen the bolt up a half a turn, it works fine. I have relieved wood from the stock to create more clearance, to no avail. Any ideas?

I would posit that it is indeed a clearance problem, but perhaps in an area you did not think of. Coat the entire trigger assembly with a marking agent ( pencil graphite can work ) and put the action in the stock. Remove the wood where it is marked. Repeat until everything works.
This step will eliminate one variable if not the fix.

Check to see if the trigger guard is touching the trigger assembly.

By "locks up" you mean the safety blade doesn't return after being pulled?
In both cocked and fired position?

You say it locks up with the trigger guard removed? Does that mean you put both action screws back in and tighten them? Or is the action just setting on the bedding and its locking up?

Can you post a picture of the inside of the action area?

With a flashlight I can look up from the bottom and see all the blade.

Side pressure on trigger or hanger can bind the blade.

Have you changed the trigger pull weight recently?

Did you just replace the stock or bed the action when it started? Or make any changes/adjustments at all?

Try adding a rotation of trigger adjustment and see if it still does it. A lot of times if you try to adjust the trigger spring as far as it’ll go they can have a tendency to lock up if you don’t pull straight back on the trigger.

If the blade is already locked up on bolt closing it is definitely rubbing/ binding somewhere. Maybe the tail end of the trigger blade that is under the safety?

The safety blade, the siver thing, does not move to the rear at all.
I did not adjust the trigger pull weight.
The action is in the stock with both action bolts tightened. When I remover the trigger guard, I just used a washer to but up against the stock.
When I look up from the bottom, I can not see anything obstructing the trigger.
Funny thing is that other than put on a different barrel, nothing else was done.
This is the same problem that I had when I pillar bedded the action and did not know that the rear pillar had to be notched for the trigger to clear.

I have a spare trigger. Ill take a look at what could be binding. From what you said above I think I have an idea that will solve your issue.

In the mean time can you cock the bolt and dry fire it? Have you run through the three safety positions to check to see if you have movement of the trigger, bolt release lever and accu-release lever. Can you remove the accu-release lever and determine if you can dry fire? Can't be safe enough so again make sure you have an empty barrel throat and all rounds are removed from the magazine.

So after much relieving of wood from just about everywhere, I got the idea to try putting a very thin washer under the tang. Everything worked fine. then I had to resume trying to figure out where the problem was. I looked at the small amount of wood that was sticking up next to the trigger guard screw.I actually had to go somewhat into the wood that the wood screw was into. Everything worked fined, again. Lastly, I put in the wood screw. Trigger locked up. Had to grind a small amount off of the end of the screw.
At this point, I will say that my problem is solved. Thank you for all of your suggestions.
