110D with Presentation engraving question

Hello all, I have a 110D with the presentation engraving. I can't find any information on this rifle could anyone please help me identify it... I think it is a pre 1968 but this is my first vintage savage and I'm not sure where to find information on it.

Left side receiver reads savage mod 110D under that is 3,005,279... 3,103,747 ... 3,106,033 and 3,138,888

Left side barrel reads (6v) proof tested cal. 30-06 sp

Right side SN is 109288

It looks like a (6V on the top of the barrel


Any help would be appreciated I will try and attach pictures.

If it's factory engraved it's a 110P as those were the only 110's ever factory engraved prior to the anniversary models. The 110P I owned (s/n 52262) was stamped 110L indicating left-hand, so I can only assume Savage just didn't want to spend the money on an additional roll stamp die for the "110P" for such a small run of guns. According to Bob Greenleaf who worked as an engineer at Savage at the time, they only made 458 of the 110P's in the 5 years they were offered in the catalog (1966-70).

The 6V makes it a 1968 production assembly, and the serial number puts it in the 1967/68 window as well. The first batch or two were engraved in Germany, but due to long turn around times the later batches were engraved in Japan and the difference in the depth and detail between the two is noticeably different with the Japanese engraved ones being a little less detailed and not as deeply engraved. The serial numbers on the few German engraved 110P's that I have seen date to 1962-63. Typically Savage doesn't assign a S/N until after final assembly right before it's boxed up. However, since the 110P's had to be shipped overseas to be engraved, they were built and serialized prior to assembly to allow them to be shipped. The one I used to own had a serial number that corresponded to 1962, but the date stamp (6V in your case) corresponded to 1966.
