I heard on another forum that a Savage Long Action with magnum bolthead will support a .338 RUM when used as a single shot. Has anyone else built a .338 RUM on a Savage action? By the way, if anyone has a LA for sale I am looking. ;D

Yes, I've built two 338 Edges which are a little larger than the RUM.
Both will work fine as a single shot.

Thanks. Will the magnum (7mm/.300 wm) bolt head work as is?

I swap a 300RUM in and out of a rifle that started as a 7mmRemMag, the bolt works fine as is.

Yes, the Rums use the regular magnum bolt head.

I built a 338 Rum on a 110 action so far so good. Fitted it with a pac-nor 29" barrel. It is the stock selection that sucks.
