We really should consider water-cooled, belt-fed, quad-mounted Savage LRPV rifles in 338 Lapua for the bulls.

Y'all do realize that nutria are properly classified as a fish.

But Elmer Keith shot sharks from a fishing boat with his 44 Magnum S&W 29 using hard-cast Lyman 429421 bullets and a full load of 2400 powder.

So guess we can shoot fish with our rifles if we want to.

Not here in Indiana you can't. It's illegal to shoot in the water with any fire arm.

Y'all just wait.

Soon nutria will be overrunning the Hoosier State.

Here in the Rockies we have held them at bay.

Ok - WAY off topic but great story (and true - I was there!). My buddy killed a Nutria by hitting it with a golf ball.

City Park golf course in Baton Rouge, LA circa 1987. Hole 7 or 8 had a drive over a big drainage canal and the cart bridge was pretty close to the tee box. My pardner shanked his drive - it hit a guard rail support on the bridge and bounced BACK into the near face of the canal (on the tee box side). We went to look for his ball and found it - cut from the rail, with blood all over it and near the body of a dead nutria with a nasty head wound.

ONLY in LA!

Nah...we've got lots of slug guns here.

1oz slugs going 1800fps+ will solidly put down any nutria uprising.

Calculate the Hatcher Factor or the Taylor Index for a golf ball...

So you're saying a Titleist ProV1, headshot, and I might get away not too dead? What's the muzzle velocity like on those?

I got a Taylor KO of 46 with (world record) 299 fps velocity. Ouch.

Hmm - golf balls come off the face of a club at 150 MPH or so (for mortals), I would attribute the incident to divine providence not the capability of Titleists to dispatch orange toothed devils.

The Hatcher Factor has a term in the equation for bullet (projectile) shape or form.

Think a roundnose is either 0.9 or 1.0.

Whereas a Keith-style SWC is a 1.25.

Wonder what the value of a dimpled golf ball is ?

Is a golf ball considered a solid or an expanding bullet ?

So my buddy's golf ball air cannon propelled by 130psi should work on most varmints including angry charging bull pds??

Only field results will tell the tale.

And the risk in the field to obtain the data should not be trivialized.

Many have wandered afield. Yet how many have survived to report ?

I'd want a couple guys with .458 Lott safari guns backing me up in case it all went to hell.

We are going to start testing different brands of golf balls to determine which will produce the best accuracy in a 5 shot group before we actually try to field test

ProV1 is like the Lapua Scenar of golf balls...

I'll be watching from afar....that golf ball thing might not do anything but make the whole herd aware of your where abouts.

Now THAT would really be dangerous!!!

Can you imagine having more than one bull being mad at the same time? It's hard enough to handle singles!!! All the bulls in a herd at the same time!?!?!

My God man!!!

Better yet....I think I'll just watch it on the news report instead of being there watching from afar.

You KNOW it'll make national news!!!

The headlines:

"4 PH back up gunners and 1 golf fanatic horribly mauled, mangled and dismembered"
