Jim,
Is it possible to get different twists? I'm looking for a .243 in a 7 or 8 twist.

Also I don't see any .277s listed?
Has anyone here talked to Jim about the freebore in the 6BR or Dasher?
Not I, but its something I'm curious about as well... my current Dasher may be entering the home stretch, and I'm considering a new tube from Criterion when it finally dies.Quote:

Then I neck-sized the 10 fired cases and loaded them with Sierra 69's and RL15, and sat down for a semi-serious attempt at some groups. The first five shot group measured .364", and that included the cold bore shot that went a tick high. The next 5 measured .660" but I completely muffed a shot, I aimed at the bullet hole(s) instead of my target dot. Throwing the bad shot out, the other 4 went into .188". Am I happy? You betcha. I realize it won't always shoot that well, but it appears to be a genuine 1/2 MOA barrel or better. I can't wait until the corn is off and my 800 yard range is open to try out the heavier bullets. Thanks Jim and Criterion! I will buy more.
Great to hear. Jim is a good guy. I have one of his barrels and may be ordering another soon.
I have a Savage screw on Criterion Match Grade Bull barrel in 6.5x47 Lapua on a Gary Eliseo S1 chassis. The barrel is topped off with a JP muzzle. At first the groups were all over the place with no signs of coming together. I was reading what others were reloading and followed along. I ended up being below what seemed normal. Final load RL-15 @ 37.0 gr., Laupa Brass, Hornady 120 A-max jammed in the lands (it likes being jammed with all types of bullets). Results: at 200 yards, 4 and 5 shot groups inside/covered by a dime/penny. Jim's advice was correct. Good barrel for the money. Cleans up well. Have 150 rounds through the barrel. Did break-in procedure for 30 rounds, then shot another 20 and cleaned. Have not cleaned it since. Shoots very well, took 3rd in recent competition.
OMG it is hard to wait for my new barrel!
Thanks so much Jim for all your advice. My compliments on a great business to work with!

I ordered about 10-11 weeks ago and haven't received mine yet. ??? ??? I am trying to patiently wait....I am getting excited to complete my first build! Hopefully it will be in soon.
I'm on week 12, and still waiting. Lots of barrel were ordered. My 7mm-08 Criterion shoots so well. I'm ready to start building my long range 30-06.
Thread needed a bump. Shots 8, 9, and 10 at 100yds during break in today. 7mm Rem Mag 26" Varmit

Hey Jim,
Do you think you will ever offer any.22br no turn and 30br barrels?
I would be interested in a .30 BR as well.
I ordered a creterion and was told it is a match chamber? He diddn't say if it was a no turn neck or any detail's about the chamber. I know some chamber's are cut for lapua brass etc etc...
I ordered a 6.5x47 Lapua 28’’ Bull barrel with the recessed crown for my Rem 700 along with the barrel nut that Jim offers. When the barrel arrived, I thoroughly inspected the chamber, crown, and finish. All I can say about that is WOW!!! I have never seen a barrel that looked this good, and I have owned many custom barrels. Now, as far as assembly, the whole process only took me about 45minutes to 1hour. I lapped the bolt lugs, screwed the barrel into the action until it made contact with the go-gauge, then I torqued the barrel nut down, and checked the head space with the no-go-gauge. Now, the good part-after setting up at the range, I fired four shots to get zeroed at 100 yards, then I shot the first three-shot group, and was completely blown away. All three went into one hole. I actually had to walk down and look at the target just to make sure that my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me. After confirming the group, I shot several more one-ragged hole groups. The worst group was just over ¼’’. The following day I shot a few 200 yard groups, and again was blown away by this Rem-Age barrel that I almost past on. The worst 200 yard group was just over ½’’. So, for anyone who is thinking about re-barreling their Rem 700, before going through the long drown out and expensive process of the traditional rebarreling method of the Remington 700, you owe it to yourself to give one of Jim’s Rem-Age barrels a try. I think you will be impressed not only by the quality of the barrel, but also by Jim, who is a great guy.
I gotta ask, what load does it like?
It likes everything so far but the first load I tried was hornady 123gr A-max with 38grs RL15 and it shoot one hole groups. It also shoots 130gr bergers really good with 37grs of RL15.
I really want one of these barrels for a f/tr rifle build. What is the muzzle diameter on a varmint contour at 26" and what would it be at 24"? I can't decide how long I want the barrel to be. I even thougt about getting one cut to 20" so I could put a can on it and shoot subs. Any ideas on one of these barrels for 600 yard f/tr?
If you read the article I wrote, it will give you a good idea, about these barrels. It is located on the home page. My barrel cut to 25 measured 1.010.Quote:

Getting real anxious, to shoot it. But I have been shooting a Savage 10, in 6 XC with a varmint barrel in the mean time. That thing is a hoot. :)
I got the "call" Monday night from, Jim. My 6.5X284 barrel showed up today. I hope it shoots as well as it looks.
I did set it up in the lathe and indicated the chamber. It was with in .0003-.0004. I'm very impressed and happy.
Thanks, Jim.
I am ready to get MY call! I can't wait...
Good Morning,
I've been doing some load development with my 6BR 8 twist 28" CBI bull barrel with mixed results. I've tried the Berger 105 VLD's and the hybrids, and so far my best 4, 5 shot group shot Agg. is 4" at 600 yards. I was hoping for better results. My next test will be with the Berger 108's. Has anyone had any success at 600 yards with this Barrel who would be willing to share some load data with me? It's really becoming frustrating, because I shot a 2.922" Agg. with my stock Savage 6BR LRPV at the last 600 yard BR shoot.
Thanks in advance for any help, Ken
A 4 inch agg is nothing to sneaze about. I have shot my Crieterion 6mmBR and agg in the mid 3's. Load is 30 grs of varget with a 107 SMK.
