Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
Sorry to hear about that Jinx, Glad to hear Savage is trying to make it right though. I was just telling my girlfriend about wanting to get a 6.5 Creedmore last week, and when she saw the magazine her comment was (so I guess this is our next rifle)lol. She knows me so well. she is a rare breed would rather go shooting than shopping.

For God's sake, don't let her get away!

Uncle Jack you are a wise man and my momma didnt raise no fool she is a keeper for sure! bad thing is we were shooting a couple of weeks ago and she out shot me with my own rifle at 645 yards. ouch i say, and this from a gal that until 6 months ago had never shot anything bigger than a 22.

I didn't see him whining all over the forum either. The man had a problem with a new Savage rifle and reported it. I believe this site is supposed to be more than just a Savage Mutual Admiration Society.
Amen, UJ!! Some folks here seem to be really touchy about problems and complaints! If you have a problem you are labeled a "whiner" instead of people reading and understanding what is happening.
bowhunter, definitely keep that one! My wife is a good shot, but would rather shop, but at least she would rather have me shooting while she is shopping!
Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
I think I'll just lay low for now, no whining etc...
Have fun ;-)
Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
Hey Jinx, sorry about opening up a can of worms, I was just excited about this new rifle from savage, I don't think you were whining at all, with a group like that you were just stating a fact! I have had shotguns shoot tighter patterns! Well I wish you the best and I do appreciate your Input on this subject, that's why this site is here, to hear both the good and bad and hopefully to help solve issues that folks may be having with their Savage's. Jay
Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
You might thank me after all, the machine which was making 6.5mm is taken down for repairs, so nothing what I experienced will happen again., maybe ;)
Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
well dang thats great news for sure jinx! so if you dont mind me asking what did they (savage ) offer you in replacement of your LRP? Jay

Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
Just ordered one in 243 from NSS.Now it's just a waiting game til it gets here.
Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
Do these come with the picatinny base like they they show in the Rifle Shooter article or was that something added for the magazine?
Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
no, no basses just rifle, accutrigger key, trigger lock, target and ear plugs ;) I would suggest 20 moa one piece base.

Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
Little late on this, but I had the chance to shoot one of the new Model 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor yesterday. Seems the local range had a Savage day recently (yeah I missed it because of work) and figured I was just out of luck. When I stopped by yesterday, the smith said 'I have gun for you to shoot!' - yup he sure did. This one had what looked like (we took a tape measure to it) 24 inch barrel, nice and heavy - stock reminded me of the beavertail synthetic I have on my 20 Tac (courtesy of Jim at NSS), target action / trigger (Sweet!) a Nikon BDC scope.
It was the try before you buy thing Savage seems to having going - problem is I want one now. Hornady 140gr factory loads, first shot at 100yd and right in the 2in target they hung up. Pulled the next one, but the next three just stacked up on the fist - dang. Factory load and out of the box rifle. Now to figure out if it was the rifle or the caliber. Lite recoil, and dang thing shoots like my custom 20 Tactical.
Do I pull the barrel on the 223 VLP and replace with a custom 6.5 Creedmoor, or just find one of these Model 12 LRP's - lol, love that Target trigger.
Re: model 12 LRP(long range precision)
Hey Right on, I wish I had a range around here that savage would do the same thing, but then again my check book would not like it to much.lol what I would like to know is how is the Creedmore compared to the 6.5-284 as far velocity and such? I know the 284 is a barrel burner.
