What's that last pic?
i found getting a 3/4" peice of pvc and some sticky back sandpaper makes short work of opening up a barrel channel
I am waiting for the left hand stock with right hand option on a thumb hole stock. Boyds makes right and left stocks but not with different action sides yet. as a left hand shooter with right action i prefer a thumb hole stock to help hold rifle while off hand shooting as its the right hand that comes off stock to operate bolt leaving left to balance gun. with thumb hole stock this makes it a lot easier. you can counter weight of gun with top of left hand. while pulling it tight is easier also . if you are waiting for left stock with right action sound off . ps this is for axis stock
Kingdom, I'm a lefty as well. I'm running into something similar with my Rem 700 that has a detach mag. I wish it was a blind mag. Now, for my FLV12, I had to convert it from a blind mag to DM for the tacticool..
I'm also interested in weight!
Where can you buy these for a short action with a bottom bolt release DBM for a bull barrel? Are you guys just buying the sporter contour and sanding them out? Also, are you guys bedding them up?
Your thoughts on using them for the Model 11-VT (24" 308)?
Both weigh right about 9.5lbs on my shipping scale, as shown in the pics. My Axis in the prairie hunter stock weighs 10.5 with the scope.
I have the Savage 11VT (Dick's Sporting Goods Special) with the plastic bottom metal and bottom bolt release. The Mag 'spring' is integrated into the magazine itself. Will the tacticool work? Will I need to buy different bottom metal parts? Here's what the mag area looks like:

So my Tacticool arrived today for my lefty FLV 12 in .223. Its got the varmint barrel from the factory. I ordered the Tacticool with factory barrel. The barrel channel is over an eighth inch to skinny. Guess I neededto order a bull barrel version - but Boyds doesn't offer it in lefty.
All I have to do is get a large dowel or socket with some good sandpaper and open the barrel channel up?
Other than that, the new bottom metal fit perfectly.
