I have in the works a savage 11 lefty action, which is getting a Brux 8 twist SS barrel, for 22-243 AI... throated for Berger 90's.
and...
I have a savage 12 lefty action, which will have a PacNor 3 groove, 8 twist, Palma barrel for 20-250 AI... throated for Berger 55's
As soon as my light wight AR is done i am debating on either a lightweight 7-08 or another smokeless .45 muzzleloader, this one just lighter and shorter.
Like to do something in a 20, tac, prac. Maybe a furball 17 or rem 17.
Mine will be chambered in 7mm-08 Rem. Long action, light weight hunting rifle.
Just finished my first, a .223 on a Stevens 200, waiting for my .308 barrel for my second. My next will be a 6.5 Creedmoor.
Looking to build a .300 Blackout to shoot supressed.
Still building my '13 Savage, 30-06 started with 111... Choate stock on the way... Barrel next
tired of worrying about my nice, pretty rifles when I go hunting in the crappy weather. Planning a build with stainless action, stainless barrel, and a synthetic stock (which I hate). Probably gonna be a 6.5 Creedmoor with a 19 or 20" barrel. I'm thinking of just buying a model 16 and chopping off the barrel a bit...seems like the easiest way to go.

Mine is in 30-06. The plan is to develop 2 loads, one that will work in both my garand and the Savage (for <500 yards) and a heavy bullet load for longer ranges.
I also have a Garand and a bolt 30-06, and they original load for the Garand is 150gr bullet and 48gr of H4895, I use that in both and they work flawlessly, I use Sierra's 150s, just a heads up the Garand will work with the higher pressures loads of the bolt action, but you are severely beating it up when it cycles from the recoil.

Yes, I've read about this. However, I think a 168gr MK will work (with the right powder) and won't kill the Garand, but offer decent performance at moderate range. The Savage only load will likely be a 220 gr MK and use a different poweder. They wil look different enough that there will be no chance of mixing up the two.
Probably won't build anything this year since I already don't have enough time to shoot what I have.
2014 Build...
Model 10 Truck/Hunt Gun
10 Accu-Trigger with target spring and sear (red blade clone)

16" heavy barrel threaded 5/8 x 24 for a YHM QD suppressor mount
M40A1-A3 style stock 12" LOP

I want a short, small and handy package to hunt deer and throw into a case for the truck/SUV

Once I get the action T&T'd I will finally finish my 6.5 Creedmoor as I finally have all the pieces (thanks to a vendor screw up this has taken over a year), I have a 284 Winchester all purpose hunting rifle based off an Axis currently in the works, and if money allows I will probably start my wildcat ELR rifle.
Just an update. We ended up buying me a Savage 10T from Cabelas. 24" heavy barrel 1:10 5R rifling. Finally got to the range yesterday and it shoots great. Wife told me she really wants an AR, so no savage build and no 6.5 Creedmore.
Edit: just realized I have been spelling Creedmoor wrong this whole time.
6.5 Grendel Suppressed Hunter or that's what I'm calling it.
18.5" SS barrel supplied by Jim at Apache.
Factory model 14 wood stock
Hintertown Kestrel 308 can
I have all parts in my possession or in transit. I'm excited!!
If I ever finish the two spread all over the work bench, one very much like the pic CAPTBEACH shows except prob, maybe, most likely, 260AI with 20" barrel.
I'm working on a .460 Smith and Wesson. I'm using a barrel blank. It'll be 16.5" and threaded for a suppressor.
The idea is that you can use a full load in the .460 and whack anything that moves.
Or, you can load off the shelf .45 Colts that run at 900 FPS through a suppressor that is quiet and still hits like a ton of bricks.
Also working on a .45 ACP edition for the same reason...suppressed.
And soon...the .500 Smith and Wesson that'll shoot a 500 grain bullet suppressed.
257 Bob AI....Boyd's thumbhole laminate on a Model 11 acutrigger.....PC7 bed....
Setback a 25-06 Adams & Bennet barrel about .350 thou...Faced the nut off .090...Reamed clean with no need for more threads....Formed cases from old 25-06 brass (can't seem to find Roberts brass)...Now have some 7X57 Nosler brass necked and ready to fireform....First 4 shots from the 25-06 converted & fireformed brass had 3 touching and about 1/2" total at a hundred...Sweet for no load developement yet.....
This one will be mine but have another .243 to do for another grandson later this spring...Also maybe a 7mm Mag for my oldest son's B. I. L......might be a busy year again...Last year only did two a .260 for a grandson and a 6.5-06 for mysely....Safe is full time to go shooting...Wish our snow would stop!
Later,
Randy
