Very good. Tell us your technique.
this was done with a sponge i did a solid 2 coats of od green then did sand stripes. next i sprayed some od green on a piece of cardboard and blotted the sponge in it. then dabbed the sponge on all the sand colored spots. then repeated the steps with san on the od green. then black on that and then sand once again over everything... then i did 7 coats of flat clear and scuffed it with brown scotchbrite to dull it out
Sooooo....
When are you actually going to take that thing out & shoot it?
Or, are you waiting for the snow to melt down to somewhere under 3 ft.?
Nice, are you going to do the cheekrest ?
Not sure yet
Been thinking about getting a cloth cover for it paint dosent stick to the truck bed liner that on it
Wow, that looks outstanding, great job! I'd sure like to see a video, or more detailed pictorial of how to do this, for us mod challenged folks. That rifle looks sweet!
YB
Thats one of the best camo paint jobs I've seen yet! Thank you for the details, I might attempt it on a cheekrest first as I too am mod challenged.
Kind of looks like a digital camo. So, what if you go in to analog woods???:biggrin-new:
thanks guys i really like how it came out... this was my first tray at the sponge method, that said i have painted alot of camo in my day do i knew the pattern i wanted
when i do camo i use the K.I.S.S. way of thinking (keep it simple stupid). less is more imho.
My last few attempts at camo paint I used the T.N.T.S.I.U.T.B.
Try Not To Screw It Up Too Badly method.
its cake frank
I like the sponge camo a lot. It's definitely a lot easier to get great results than other methods and patterns I've tried. the woodland colors look really good on yours. I usually top coat mine with some Testors Dull Coat clear to seal it all up. Great stuff.
Yeah I know...
You've never seen me paint.
I'm one of the few that CAN screw up a camo paint job.
better quality pics

that looks really nice !!!!:eagerness:
Really nice job.
Darn, Now that I've seen the latest pics I gotta get some black on mine and dull coat again :)
thanx for all the kind words guys
Looks really good! Doesn't seem to difficult either, I do have a question....with all the clear you put on it, is the finish pretty durable?
Should be yes its hard as a rock
Has it passed the all-season all-weather tree trunk woods rock rubbed-in mud drop-bash test? : ) My home camo jobbed chipped off in a few spots--but easy to touch up otherwise.
