Where in co? Sounds like mucho fun
Eastern CO, towards Kansas....the REALLY flat part.
Yep. Flat, windy, dry, cactus, and large angry pdogs. Two 300wm's ready to role. ;D I still maintain it is a wonderful pdog cartridge. Really great when they are in nice close groups.
::) It's a nice cartridge, sure, but is it really enough gun? You might want something bigger. Large, angry game like that can be downright dangerous! ;) ;)Quote:

Seriously, I am jealous. Been wanting to go p-dogging for years. Good luck and good shooting to you.
Don't forget your 22LR! See lots of Pdogs out here in NE CO. What about's will you be hunting? Around the Lamar area or more up North closer to the NE line?
To bad a guy can't shoot by the Denver airport in the old munitions dump, lots of them there! ;)
They're all over the eastern side of town, the Gander Mountain in Aurora is almost over run. If a guy had a nice, quiet pellet gun...
I might know a guy that could help you out with that. ;DQuote:

I may just have to take you up on that in the near future. Having someone already there that has been there - done that would be a huge asset and I am sure would make the trip much more enjoyable.Quote:

We just had our first PD hunt of the season in south central Wyoming Saturday. Only got to shoot until around 1:00 PM and had quite a bit of wind. Only managed to get eighty or so. We may have to look for another ranch to hunt if it doesn't get any better than that.

This is going to be a good trip. Counting down the days.
Just can't decide if a 325 gr FTX out of my 458 will be enough, or if I am going to be forced to load up some 500gr solids for those Rampant Bull P-Dogs. :o
AWESOME !!! Just finished loading up an extra 200 rounds......can't be too prepared. ;DQuote:

Got the hotel booked last night, and ordered the last few items i was in need of (they better be here in time ::)). Now just got to finish up the last of my loading and give the car an oil change and should be all set.
Still have to pack up the rifles but I probably won't do that until the day before anyway.
Counting down the days.
Just finished up loading the Ammo for my 243AI and some for the 223 WSSM. I don't normally load 300+ rounds in one evening, I think my arm is going to let me know about it in the morning, still got at least 200 more to go, but its all part of the fun. At least this will let me fireform the rest of my brass to the AI chamber, and have a great time doing it ;).
7 days !!!
6 days 11 hours and 12 minutes until I get to get under way.
I was going to make a run up there to shoot them all (like that would happen!) before you guys get here.....but decided to go coyote calling in CO this weekend due to rancher calling and saying come down & shoot the ones that moved in after we removed the last 8 from the ranches.
I hope its nice next week as its been windy/raining here on & off the last 2 days.
This is one of the better hills to shoot them from. Oh and smack the yucca plants or any other shrub you lay next to, to insure there aint no rattler sunning by it. The windmill just above my sons head is about 1/3 mile away.
In case you want to see what we did last time there look at the slideshow. You may have seen it last year or longer ago.

Good luck boys. All the big Towns in NE Colorado, NW Kansas, I used to shoot have been either wiped out by the plague or poisoned by the ranchers.
5spd, how do you get those pics like that. would love to do something like that..
My son took them w/ his Nikon digital professional camera using the burst feature. He has a nice outfit and has a telephoto attachment on it. Those shots are all at 350-425 yds. Then putting them together in a slide show in photobucket after I resized them under photoshop.Quote:

That slide show it GREAT !!!
That slide show is awesome. Looking forward to seeing the action first hand.
Glad you mentioned the rattlers, forgot all about them being out there. Here in the midwest they are not something I think about bumping into unless very near a quarry. I can deal with most any animal, but I hate snakes.
My pal may go with you guys as I told him about you 2. He knows the spot as well as I do since we shot there many, many times over the years.
He will let me know for sure by Wednesday eve.
If so Ill give your cell # to him to give you a yell.
sounds good
Two more days until I depart. I hope I'll be able to sleep at night until then. ;D
I was wondering about something today though. I live at about 700ft above sea-level, and this area is about 6000ft above sea-level. What is that going to do to my trajectories? I would imagine that my bullet will strike a fair amount above my POA when scopes are zero'ed out here at 700ft. ???
Go to this site and plug in your data at the elevation you are sighted in at. Run a second set and change the elevation to where you will be shooting. Then compare the POI.

LOL !!! thanks.
Already made cheater cards from JBM.....in large font ('cause I'm old and blind)
When in Colorado make sure to check out the bass pro Shop outside of Denver to view (not shoot) these teaser targets. Between I-70 and the store 2 years ago. I posted these on another site but thought you might like them also.

Sure hope I can sleep tonite, 13-14 hours in the car will be tough if I don't :o :o :o
Same here, it's 4:25am....couldn't sleep.
I'll see ya tonight.
Have fun guys!
Well I made it out, thank God for XM Radio free trial. I'd have been so bored without the comedy channels. Now just gotta relax and sleep ::) so I can meet up with the guys in the AM.
Can't believe how many Antelope I saw on the way in. I may have to save up and try to come out for one of those also someday.
Have fun guys!!
Dave called yesterday. They are doing some good shooting even with the winds and afternoon showers. They made it up to WY here for a few p-dogs.
We survived...barely.
........but a pile of Prairie Dogs didn't.
post to come shortly.
