    X-Caliber barrel.

Time for another barrel change on one of my Savage 110s. This time I ordered an X-Caliber .308 24" bull in SS. Barrel came in and looks pretty darn nice. Hoping to pop it on the next rainy day that comes along. Whatta Hobby!

Chose X-Caliber when building my 22 Creed and am very pleased with it. Looking forward to target results from yours.

Getting a bit anxious myself. Last barrel was sub moa until it wore out after almost 3500 rnds. I started using a barrel cooler on my precision rifles, after that, with the idea it might prolong the life just a tad. Whatta Hobby!

Screwed the new barrel onto my Savage 110. Should get out to my range tomorrow if the rain stops. Stuck a muzzle device from the junk box on as a thread protector. Waiting on more OSS suppressor adapters to compete the mission. Whatta Hobby!

I’ve had a couple of their barrels and both shot very well. No complaints here and I think you’ll like the results it gives you.

Started barrel break in today. 50 rnds fired with the old 1 clean 2 clean and so on up to a couple of 10 and clean. This is representative of one of those 10 shot groups during break in. I think it may work out. Max spread of .75 with an average under .5. Ammo was handloads in surplus berdan cases. 150 gn fb, 43.5 gn Varget with an sd of 10.5 traveling at an average of 2700. A question , Why X Cal. over all the others offering Savage Pre fits ?? I'm thinking about changing one of my 308's to a small 6MM. Since this would be a fall / winter project lead time /availability wouldn't be a problem .
    Thank you and Semper Fi

Just thought I would give one a try this change. I put a Criterion on my .223 and have a Shilene on the way for another Savage. I am an equal opportunity barrel buyer. They only last one season , if I am lucky, and I have not noticed any great difference in any of the quality barrels. I do use Kreiger, Criterion, USGI and Bula heavies on my M14 type rifles and Lilja on my rimfires most of the time. Whatta Hobby!

https://ibb.co/nQ1WNMcI am waiting for them to send me a barrel nut since I paid them $500 for a 6.5 Creed barrel for my Tikka and they shipped it without a nut
I doubt their barrels are worth what I paid ....plenty of others out there ....that was a premium price and not even a nut is included ...not
overly impressed....The only reason I paid that much and used them is , they had one in stock ...but Northland would have been my first
choice and a Bartlein or CRiterion

Oh well, we all have choices. A positive attitude can make everything look better. My barrel took a few weeks to get what I wanted and I am very pleased. I did order the barrel nut separately. Not nuts about having to use a crowfoot wrench for the barrel nut torque but that the way it is. Whatta Hobby!

Barrel nuts never come with a premium barrel.. I can’t think of one that does automatically include it unless you add it to your order.

Maybe you shoulda verified you were gonna get everything you needed? Then they woulda told you a nut isn’t included with the barrel and you coulda added one. It is standard practice, but instead you wanna bash their business before you even use the product. Shoot it first and think you will be pleased. Yes there are many others out there, and they wouldn’t have automatically come with a barrel nut either.

I've also never seen a barrel shipped with a barrel nut. The idea is that you use the barrel nut that is already on your rifle.

BUT....I went to Xcaliber and read their barrel listing for the Tikka. The ad reads

"If you are gun-savy and have a barrel vise, a 3/8" driver and the corresponding chambers’ Go gauge, you have everything you need to correctly install a barrel on your Tikka T3."

So, I might also assume the nut came with the barrel, especially since a Tikka does not have one to start with.

Correct. When you order a premium barrel that's what you get, a barrel. Nuts and recoil lugs are extra cost items, even from Northland.

Can you give me a quick review of your SV Sightron? Would you buy another is the real question?

Yes , Yes and Yes, Sightrons are working great for me on a few rifles. The SV has held up well with about 5K through the rifle since install. Clarity is very nice. I do use a Night Force Competition on a couple rifles and function is about the same. Whatta Hobby!

You did buy with the 20% off they offer around holidays, right?

X-Caliber is currently offering 20% off barrels for Father's Day.

Having a ball with this X-Caliber barrel. Still in the process of breaking it in. This morning we tried a clean cold bore at 100 yds using handloads. Lapua .308 SR primers, 43.5 gn Varget for 2700 fps with an sd of 7.9. Whatta Hobby!
