    New guy looking to learn

Hello, I'm a 34yo male from Southern CA who got into hunting 6 years ago. I walked into a gun store and bought a Savage 116 .270 without really knowing what I bought. I learned how to shoot it over the years, but now I'm putting effort towards learning more about my rifle and making some upgrades. After reading around here for 2 weeks I've already learned more about my rifle than in the past 6 years.

I also harvested my first big-game animal with this rifle and since I'm sentimental I'll be keeping it forever. Looking forward to gaining more knowledge here!

Welcome to the group. Hard to beat a 270 for deer hunting.

Welcome to the community. The 270 is one of the old stand-bys for many hunters. It's a good all around caliber.
